older facility good benefits, dirty work environment, pay is better than average, hard hard work but can be rewarding. long hours and many dangerous situations. lots of temperature extreams. not for light weights!
Chief Engineer (Current Employee) – Fairfax, VA – 24 October 2017
Covanta has been a great place for me as far as personal growth goes, it has its ups and downs but a lot can be learned. They offer a good benefit package and the compensation is decent. there are a lot of great people working for the company.
Covanta is a good place to work. The co-workers here are team players and are really helpful. Since I started working here, I have learned a lot and am very appreciative to the team for the many improvements that we have accomplished.
Crane Operator (Current Employee) – Indianapolis, IN – 28 September 2017
Teaches you a lot about environment and safety. Also teaches you your self is money more important or family. I have been able to do a lot while working for this company. They take pride in safety and it takes a team to make that happen.
Don't trust management and get the job discription before hand
Auxiliary Operator (Former Employee) – Huntsville, AL – 17 April 2017
Management will lie to you just to get you in the door. Job and benefits were not at all what I was told it would be. Insurance was higher and pay was less after I accepted the job and started. Nastiest place I've ever worked with hazardous waste all around. Stay away from this site, especially management.
Facility Operations & Maintenance Intern (Former Employee) – Agawam, MA – 4 April 2017
If you're looking for a facility operations job where there is something new everyday, then Covanta is worth looking into. They are always looking for operations engineers and supervisors for their hundreds of facilities. This is a business that will always be around.
Covanta was a well run company with an excellent staff that worked hard and worked extraordinarily well with each other. Covanta is staffed by several hard working employees who understand the importance of hard work and dedication.
Engineer (Current Employee) – Morristown, NJ – 9 March 2017
Some of the engineers are very intelligent and visionaries. You can learn a lot from them. Senior management is aweful and completely disconnected from the needs of the company and what is necessary to improve company.
This is the worst company to work for in the country.
Control Room Operator (Former Employee) – Kapolei, HI – 26 February 2017
Management treats the workers as slaves. They Do Not promote, protect or hire women. Mandatory 60 hour work weeks, under intense management supervision. Management disrespects their employees by talking behind workers backs, trying to cause workers to turn on each other. The Honolulu plant supervisors have told the employees,"You work with trash, how do you expect to be treated?" Disgraceful .... stay far away from this employer.
