Your contract means nothing the team lead demands more working out of hours and no overtime stay late and don’t finish on time or early absolutely no give and take. Employees not valued in the slightest.
None seriously all one sided
Management all of them (it’s not me it’s the other fella)
Youre only a utility no life outside job if you complain or cancel jobs you will get hassle constantly piling pressure on hours of unpaid work overtime is non existent theyll sell you a fantasy but soon turns to a nightmare
No work life balance
An Honest Review.I spent enough time in Actavo to understand and empathize. I worked on the Sky Contract. The Initial Months of being on your own trying to earn money is difficult and draining, There will be many days where you are faced with a situation you have not been trained/educated in, (to service a sky HD box) and you will blow up your few contacts looking for help and guidance. The company provides you with the best of tools and equipment to safely install/ service 8-10 jobs a day every day.The companies policy is to ensure every job is done safely, (sounds great, however) when you are given 8+ jobs daily you really have 2 choices.A) carry each and every job out to the best of your ability following all health and safetly procedures. i.e eyebolt ladder, harness, etc. and more than likely get home after 7 pm.orB) quickly throw your ladder up quick as you can get down before a health and safety officer sees you. (random engineer checks) but get home much earlier.then having to ETA your customer for the next day.If you do not allocate a skybox to a job you installed it in on your iPad, you will be charged £600 per box.The van the company provides is tracked,$488 WEEKLY after tax and the joys of earning overtime every 6 weeks. It is a good stepping stone for anyone who would like to get to learn about satellite and internet, my advice to you is never give a customer your private number.TRUST ME!
A different challenge each and every day, Potential overtime is really good e.g£2000, You are your own boss when it comes to the jobs and when you start work
Alot of driving, other employees will stab you in the back, long days
They will sell you a fantasy to get you in the door forty hour week never happens you get around ten jobs if a job takes two hours doesent make a difference thats at youre cost only way to make overtime is take more jobs on but they find a way to deduct from that too hangman culture is rife you have to call customers and arrange jobs for next day not paid to drive or call customers at night if you cancel a job they will hound you over it without a doubt the worst company I've ever worked for in twenty years of work never seen such disregard for staff itsthey just keep taking more lads on all the time and put endless pressure on lads
bad pay long hours management dont care
You have to be completely fit to work this job I learned numerous new skills, tools, ladders, communication Management don't suffer fools gladly you have to be on your game Working with other Engineers built me as a person Hardest part of the job was delivering the output of the Client - Sky Delivering the customer quality product with a smile
Van, Tools, Ladders
Long Hours, Endless demand from Client
Worked here for 3 years and it started great and quickly turned to a nightmare. They expect you to travel anything up to 2hrs30 mins to site on your own time, then do a 9 hour day then travel home... They look after certain lads, if you refuse anything they make life a misery for you. They advise there is great money to be made with the bonus structure but in reality they control that. If they see someone going to make a few Bob, they just give them faults and other jobs that won't pay for the rest of the week. The senior management team are a joke. One of them is an absolute loose cannon that uses language you would expect to hear in love/hate. Most of the team managers are absolute dogs to work under. Constant pressure every day. Morning noon and night. They don't put your travel money or bonus in contract so they can take it away when ever they like. Which they have done recently. I'd rather work in Lidl!
Management are a joke, HR is non existent and Payroll must be run by a 10year old. Wages are never right
I have worked for Actavo for some time now. The opportunity for development is second to none if you want to work for it. Management are approachable and open to new ideas. The Company has many initiatives running throughout the year, there is always something happening. Work Life balance can be challenging at times but if you're time management skills are good, you will have no problem. I have attended multiple training courses provided by the Company which I have found very beneficial to my everyday work. Great location - just off N7/M50, parking available - on Dublin Bus route however closest LUAS stop is around a 15-20 minute walk away.
Well paid if paid right. Never a week with the money you earned always some sly cut taken off. You will work all hours for your pay. No Home Life. Work, Sleep, Work, Repeat. Being over worked is your problem or something you are doing at home.
The dream was sold to me. But I was so fooled. Team manager was one time in the army and still thinks he’s there, not a clue, a bully, 21 jobs a week is the target after this it’s a bonus system the type of jobs Im given it’s impossible to get any bonus. your expected to work until late some nights even finishing at 9:30 and then you might have to drive 2 hours home and be back at work at 8am for the next day. Actavo bull no respect only abuse. Five engineers walked out in 1 week over the poor treatment by the team manager who is only interested in getting his bonus at the end of the month and how he gets that is to push and bully all the engineers that work under him. The pay is rubbish for a minimum 12 hours a day they will tell you it’s a 8 hour day, if your lucky you might finish after 12 hours on average. Spoke to HR and senior management regarding issues of bullying in the workplace. Nothing was done. I myself am not the first to go down that road to try and resolve a problem. If you have any common sense take my advice and do not put yourself in this condition of stress. No job is worth nearly having a nervous breakdown over it. Again I will stress that they will try and trick you into taking a position with the company ie. company van company phone etc. they claim competitive salary of €32,000 a year but when you break down the hours it’s well below minimum wage. Now there push for 6 day working week
I would not allow my worst enemy to work here and cant wait to change jobs....10 hr days with no chance of lunch break constantly on phone to take more work the blamed for other people errors and expected to resolve on the fly....
Not much to speak of.
Unrealistic jobs, jobs given till u finish 10 hr days, no days off, place is toxic to work in...
You don't get breaks, you work on average 4.5 hrs a day unpaid. Company requested meetings unpaid. No sick pay, company officers sneak to catch you not adhering to overkill H+S regs. Expected to work rostered days off or loose your job. This is the worst job I have ever had. If your stuck, give it a go. But out of the last 65 people hired for the sky contract... less than 14 remain. Huge staff turnover.
Don’t waste your time applying for this job .its just a mess of a place. there is no training whatsoever at this place it’s mad,but the managers expect high working standards from you . if you don’t believe me apply for the job and when you get the job come back and tell me how it went for you .
Worst company I've ever worked for.More chiefs than Indians. Long hours for little money. Paid in minutes.Health and safety dictates earnings. Everyone wants to hang everyone. Zero loyalty. Work itself is easy. My recommendation would be STAY WELL AWAY FROM ACTAVO
Long difficult hours. Management approachable and only interested in figures. Don't care for families and will discuss you with other staff members behind your back. There is absolutely no loyalty within this company And the more you do the more they want. If you work hard with this company they will work you harder. Salary will be dropped without notice or explanation and they will threaten to sack you if you mention union.
I worked for Actavo for about 6 months and was never made to feel part of the team. There seemed to be clicks within the safety department and they would make certain individuals that lacked experience look a whole lot better by taking credit for all the work. The safety officer that I was placed with was pure toxic and she had the backing of senior safety that allowed her to get away with it. I would speak to her in the evenings about what needed to be done the following day, she would take notes and then have the neck to send me an email requesting me to complete the tasks that I discussed with her before I left, unbelievable I know. She would have the whole company on the email and tried every dirty trick in the book to make herself look the part whilst tring to kick me to the kerb at every opportunity. One day I received a call from the safety manager asking me to drive to headoffice in Dubin, she had told me a number of weeks prior to this that I could take up a new role as a company trainer. At the time I did think that this was a bit odd as it was coming to the end of the working day and now I was being asked to drive from Dundalk into Dublin. I agreed because I had a lot of previous experience delivering training courses and couldn't wait to get away from the other horrible c--t When I drove my company car up to headoffice I was made wait for about 2 to 3hrs to see the manager. Again I got to see her I was righly pis--d and understandably confused. The safety manager just walked over to me and said can you follow me. I asked her was this about the training - more...
biggest issue with this Bunch of cowboys, is amount of stuff and time they want from You without willing to pay for it. Restocks, calling customers outside of working hours, traveling, tool box talks as much as theirs ridiculous H&S meetings, it’s over 25hours a month, not a single cent they will pay, They using bogus self employment contracts somewhere to avoid legal duties of employer
Expect way to much from employees constant long hours and no life outside of the job. Always stressful and causes severe anxiety and drains the mind. Expected to restock once a week at 7:30am no matter where you have to travel from and then you have to proceed to the same amount of jobs as you would on other days which puts you way behind. Unlimited job demands as you could be given 8 jobs which is a lot and gives you limited time to get jobs done correct and get to customers with estimated times which is very hard to keep customers happy as so busy always late. Therefore can't make the big money for running new cables ect as under way to much pressure and on top of that if you happen to be on schedule you will be sure to get a call with extra jobs and are expected to do so or else getting in trouble off team managers. Also customers ringing out of work hours and in your interest to answer the call to avoid going back to the customer for free as you own each customer you call to each day for 30 days after Install. Safety measure take up at least 20-30 minutes to put into place on each job which eats Into time. Horrible cold mornings, rain and wind ect you have to work in. Team managers do try they're best to help you but sometimes they can't as they have double the pressure on them to designate the work out to everybody so on your own a lot and have to get the work done. For the reasons seen above always people coming and going in this industry even long serving staff after they have said it has got worse with time.
Long hours, kill yourself for good money, stress and constant pressure, expectations from management way to high.
Worst company I ever worked for would advise anyone to stay clear of working for them . All about getting numbers out supervisors and safety reps constantly sneaking around trying to catch you out . A very uneasy work environment and health and safety is a joke
