Very secure, good work life balance.
Deputy Manager (Current Employee) - Aldi, IE - 9 April 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedGreat job security. Good work life balance for most positions. Deputy pay is the same as store assistant pay. But you get dep hours which can give you an extra 100-150 a month. You are paid monthly too.

Don't work here if you want a social life
Deputy Store Manager (Current Employee) - Ireland - 5 February 2022
Can progress to management quickly. Training is poor. Huge pressure. Toxic environment. Store managers power tripping and treat you like dirt. Forget about planning anything outside of work because you will never get the time off unless you are on annual leave. And forget about getting a weekend off
Pros
Pay is decent, met some life long friends
Cons
Long hours, huge pressure, senior management extremely rude, no work life balance, toxic environment

Ok
Deputy Manager (Former Employee) - Tullamore, County Offaly - 26 February 2020
Aldi as an employer have to invest more in to their own employees, that’s causing big staff rotation in stores. Very fast environment with great multitasking learning skills.

Great
Deputy Store Manager (Current Employee) - Fermoy, County Cork - 8 February 2020
Great job for someone who wants to put their head down and work hard.
Progression is available for those who show they are capable.
They prefer to promote from within the company.

If you care about health and family don’t choose aldi. It will destroy your health and affect your private life . Your paid for doing double the job normally you would do.

Deputy Store Manager (Former Employee) - IE - 11 September 2019
All your work is calculated in time
The manager is still awaiting more from you. Work under constant pressure.
If you like it, you have a future there.

Good for the first job.
Deputy Manager (Current Employee) - Cork - 7 October 2018
If you only starting to work, that is a good choice. Money is good and you are learning what is mean hard work. But then after few years you are realized that Aldi wants more and more from you but doesn't want to give more from itself. Apparently Aldi do not believe in rule that happy staff means happy customers and happy customers will come back. Aldi want's to be cheaper than every one else so the customers will come back.
If you get promoted to deputy manager you gonna have to hour rates, one for the regular staff and second higher for deputy but you will get second one only when you are running the store so usually when the store manager or store manager assistants are not there. When they are in the shop you get same hour rate as regular staff but you need to work faster and better to give good example for the staff and you still need to do stuff that only managers do but you are not getting paid for that.
Then there is Store manager assistant. He is getting a little bit more money from deputy and health insurance benefits but need to work a lot more, because if you are staff or deputy you work 25 to maximum 40 hours per week and when you are store manager assistant you need to work 45 hours every week. That gives you 3 extra months of work in the year comparing to staff and deputy's.
Store manager is probably the only well paid position in Aldi if you can handle with stress and pressure.
Pros
Time in work fly's very quickly
Cons
No life work balance. Very poor rewards for long service.

Good to work for but you need to put hard work. Its really physical work, so should be ready to work hard. There are ample chances to rise up but very hard to change the line.
Pros
good salary and packages
Cons
Might get call in the middle of the night

Productive and positive workplace
Deputy Store Manager (Former Employee) - Ballincollig, County Cork - 28 February 2018
Aldi allowed me to shape and express my options regarding both hard work under pressure as well as precision, retail and attention. The culture and work system in Aldi are lovingly refined, which makes the productivity of both employees and stores at the highest level.
Pros
Promotion opportunities
Cons
Work under pressure
