Too much emphasis on the wrong things
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Ireland - 25 May 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedStressful, busy, pays well but very little hours so doesn't really make a difference... Everyone who's been there longer than a week likes to act like a manager. Tills don't tell you how much change to give.
Pros
paid for every minute you're there
Cons
few hours, stressful work environment, competitive

Efficiency central
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Cork, County Cork - 5 May 2022
Had a blast working with ALDI, it taught me a lot about efficiency, time management and working under pressure. I would highly recommend it to anyway, just beware than some stores are run better than others.
Pros
Fast-paced work
Cons
Very short breaks

Fast paced and productive.
Sales Assistant (Current Employee) - Laytown, County Meath - 27 April 2022
I have been employed with ALDI in Florida for two years and on returning to Ireland I applied to the ALDI close to my home. The months training with a “buddy” was a great idea to get a new employee up to speed with the way the store operates. I enjoy the fast pace and work satisfaction this position offers. The employees are very supportive and helpful.
Pros
Close to home.
Cons
Early shift is a 6am start time.

Met some lovely people
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Dublin, County Dublin - 20 March 2022
I only worked at Aldi for a couple of months, I met some really lovely people that I enjoyed thoroughly working with. It is tough going, but the salary is actually really good, which is one of the reasons I went for the job. I left due to finding something more suited to myself, but I still talk to many of the people I worked with. Management can be pushy, and you best believe overtime is a possibility with aldi.

Avoid this place
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Tullamore, County Offaly - 10 February 2022
This place is impossible to have a work / social life balance. You are worked to the bone with unrealistic time frames. You do 4 online assessments before you get an interview. Manager is terribly rude and has very bad English. Had issues with my holidays. Manager has a tendency to pick on certain people and belittle them Infront of colleagues. Store colleagues aren't friendly either. Can't ask them for help they refuse and constant speaking of different languages on the floor to the extent customers don't feel like they can approach them. Aldi hire anyone and everyone as the turnover is very bad. No training was properly provided on the floor it was all on a computer. Extremely hard to manage a mountly wage.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Everything

Busy, stressful
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Rathmines, County Dublin - 2 February 2022
Busy and stressful - management feel this way too and staff are treated as such. They pay a high rate per hour so they expect a lot out of you, which is only fair. Shifts are long and exhausting, particularly in city shops with earlier opening times.
Pros
Good pay for the type of job
Cons
Long hours, unpleasant management

Like a prison
Sales Assistant Aldi (Former Employee) - Thurles, County Tipperary - 14 August 2021
You have no life whatsoever when in Aldi I would not recommend it to my worst enemy and that’s saying something. It’s run like a prison camp they care about their staff at all.
Pros
Good pay that’s it.
Cons
No life

Not bad for students and first/second job
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Dublin, County Dublin - 3 August 2021
Typical day includes stacking shelves being called on till and serving customers, high targets are expected and you have to be super fast, not for the faint hearted. For the retail sector the pay isnt bad.
Pros
Pay, Good Management
Cons
High pressure, rotating shifts, 6am starts, 10pm finishes

Jobs at ALDI
Sales Assistant positionsEfficiency
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - County Galway - 26 October 2020
You will be timed everywhere. Efficiency is a key. ALDI is not a place where you can have a chat with your colleagues. If you will be fast enough you will get more morning hours to get shop ready for opening.
Pros
Rate of pay
Cons
Calls to come in on your days off

~tests on mystery shopper trolley (manager will hide something)
~tests on delivery (manager will hide something of the pallet you are assigned)

very stressful enviroment
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Dublin - 27 September 2018
I will recommend to work for this company to people who are looking for a day full of exercise and no work-life balance. If you willing to be flexible 24 hours per day and just leave your life in the store.
Pros
free exercise and free diet ( no time for proper food especially in management level)
Cons
xxx
