job is handy enough, people working with you are good, but the management really changes the place. depending on how well the managers like you depends on how many hours you get regardless of contracts. Managers of smaller departments have serious power trips and treat some staff like lesser human beings seen a lot of HR nightmare moments in my time working, managers bullying staff and showing clear favouritism towards others. area managers tend to treat staff like dirt under their shoes when visiting unless your'e a manager.
Pros
The people you work with can be great
Cons
stuck on 3-11 90% of the time, no free lunch or even water.

I have worked indirectly for applegreen delivering petrol/diesel all over Ireland for the past 11/12 yrs i have been with them through good times and bad but the job got done I have been there with new trainees and have always tried to show them the way to get the job done safely and properly. Delivering to forecourt is a very different job than delivering to depots because of the amount of public around they don't understand the danger of delivering petroleum products so you have to be very aware of the public at all times
Pros
We get a free Tea/coffee

Pay & benefitsTheir pay is garbage. On a store level management is phenomenal. But on the corporate level, they do not appreciate their employees and their treatment of you reflects as such.ManagementStore level management cares about your success and encourages your growth. However on a corporate level they could care less about whether or not you succeed in their company as long as you're there to work.OverallOn a store level the company is great. But on a corporate level they do not pay fair wages. They are well below average for competitive businesses in the area. They have high expectations but often give employees equipment that falls short. Often times important things like cash registers or coolers are broken down and they will let it sit for weeks and then get angry because they receive customer complaints as a result. If you're looking for part time work it's a good fit. However don't expect them to offer full time hours with fair pay because it won't happen.

Minimum wage not justified for the constant tasks and responsibility for dangerous flammable liquids. Lack of perks such as tea/coffee creates a cold working environment. Regional and senior management look down on shop assistants. Simply but, treat your employees as you would like to be treated yourself and would go a long way in negating the negative reviews featured here and the high staff turnover
Pros
None
Cons
Pay, bad work to life ratio, poor Company management

Worst place I have worked as a manager, started as subway manager then they sacked the site manager promoted me in November and then saw nobody from above me until after Christmas, at any time did I get any training or any health and safety training absolute joke of a company. I put up with it until July and increased sales by 20,000 during Covid. No hours, no holiday the whole time I worked for them. Between November - March no day off - acas are loving the failures of this company

Your paid for an 8 hour shift when you do more like 9 hours, no proper break time, apparently your breaks are in between serving customers, when on most days it’s extremely busy,so you don’t get a break, your expected to put yourself out for the company when you get nothing back, you don’t get any sick pay and what with the current situation with Covid19 on the rise again, you could be put in a difficult position.
Pros
Not bad pay for an unskilled job
Cons
Not paid for extra hours at start and end of shifts, no proper breaks.

Overall I USED to think this was a great company to work for, but when their higher up managers confront their managers over things, they don't like to believe their manager whom they have hired for the positions over the issues at hand which is mind boggling that they are like this. This is absolutely asinine and wrong.
Pros
None
Cons
Everything, you can bust you butt for the company and they find everything to bash you for.

Absolutely disappointed and fully stressed during work in applegreen . Have been working 2 years vent from deli assistant to sales assistant and supervisor after , minimum wage the more you work the more they expect have been doing supervisor job for 6 months with minimum wage I had to ask so many times for a pay rise to hear that I'm not good enough to get more money. Selfish manager and assistant manager the worst. Don't ever work with them
Pros
maybe experience
Cons
Bad management, racism, minimum wage, not at least free coffe, really busy, company dosent care about staff .

Having worked for the company for 11 years, keeping the site running 24 hours a day, covered day & night shifts at short notice when staff have let you down, Company was good to work for at the beginning, now they have got to big to care about people. They have also had too many area managers in the 11 years & you get little or no help form any of them, especially the latest lot all they seem to care about is upsell figures!
Pros
some staff were great
Cons
no support from area managers

● Work-life balanceThis company Will guarantee you full-time hours or more and then you will be cut to like 20 hours a week or less, and also there’s a huge sign on the door that says facemask recommended so you can’t turn anybody away who does not wear a face mask who comes into the restaurant and there company doesn’t own or have a timeclock machine● Pay & benefitsThey miscounting your hours● ManagementNeeds better attention and they should come to work if they paid for the salary● OverallThis place needs more supervision and train people to clean the place the right way, place is brand new its going down hill because nobody knows how to clean especially during a pandemic.

Worked for applegreen for a long time I would not reccomend that anyone should try get a job here. The more you do for the company the more they expect from you. No appreciation what so ever to there staff. Worked for minimum wage for 5 years never ever received a pay rise no matter how many times you ask for one. The times are awkward enough also. Honestly the worst company to work for STAY FAR AWAY
Pros
The staff are amazing
Cons
Too many !!

Love working here. Great team and a manager who cares about his staff. Work is fun but busy, always plenty to do. Great regular customers. A normal day would be to open the shop, prepare till and lottery and put out stock between customers. the shift flies past. Trusted to get on with the job and if any problems arise and you're the only one in, you can phone the manager or any other member of staff at anytime for advice. Current staff members actually offer to help out even on their days off. Can honestly say we look after each other. OK so the pays not great (minimum wage) and the current situation with covid19 has created extra work, Upsell targets can be hard. but all in all good place to work.
Pros
Great team all friendly.
Cons
definitely trying to hit upsell targets.

Absolutely terrible to work for, no respect for staff, no help when you ask for it, can't even have a free cup of coffee or tea. They never thank you, expected us to work during Covid and ignored our concerns. On the food side its absolutely dreadful blaming food managers for everything wrong. The salary is 25k a year for a food manager with full time staff making very close to what a manager makes
Pros
None
Cons
No respect

This place is a joke breaks the law and doesn't care about staff regardless of what age you are. How they get away with audits is beyond me as they don't follow the rules or regulations at all. I've been working in retail 15 years and had to correct managers here on my entitlements as they tried to tell me different and I knew my rights better than them. Their prices are crazy aswell a usual pr

It's by no means easy being sale assistant in big forecourt but it's enjoyable when you know what you're doing and how quickly you adapt to understanding the small things that need to be done on daily basis but the best part of working there is how fast the day goes when you've got delivery coming in and keeping up the sales while getting to know the regular customers and it just makes it nice to have good co-workers and regulars.
Pros
Free meals, very friendly co-workers, lovely regular customers

Co workers were great ! But Manager had his spouse as a worker who bossed other workers and the spouse did not do their fair share , got time off when other staff couldn’t, no team spirit and no manner when speaking. No motivation only hostile tatics, no rapport with any staff, never answered his phone if needed. No job satisfaction unfortunately.
Pros
Great colleagues
Cons
Bad management
