Enjoyed my time and helped me grow
Pizzaiolo (Former Employee) - Anonymous - 9 August 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWorked here for just over 6months, left due to going into internship and wouldn't be able to fully commit. I had a great time working as FOH, there was focus on training with customers and finishing table which I enjoyed a lot and getting use to the busy times and multi tasking which I think will be a great help in the future. Found Manager great and the team, had great fun. Met few people in different parts of the company from delivery drivers, calls from other stores or managers and head office and found everyone very helpful and friendly.
Pros
Great staff and can grow in the company
Cons
Didn't have many

Good work environment, long hours, busy days but overall nice people. Good pay and free pizza on a long shift.

Areas for improvement
- Sense of belonging
- Fair pay for job
- Energising work tasks
Didn't enjoy.
Order Taker (Former Employee) - Dublin, County Dublin - 20 June 2023
Some older staff (1) were creepy and touchy-feely. Work was stressful and disorganised for no reason. Everyone talked badly about each other and criticised management without actually doing anything about it. The best decision I ever made was leaving.
Pros
50% off food
Cons
Almost everything else apart from the general staff.

Productive and friendly workplace
Front of House Staff (Current Employee) - Dublin, County Dublin - 2 June 2023
I am coming up on my one year anniversary with Base and I don't have a bad word to say about the company. It is a friendly, upbeat company to work within and there is a lot of opportunity for growth for everyone who is employed here. New management are helpful and only interested in bettering the company from what I have experienced. Couldn't recommend Base enough as a great and fun place to work!

Avoid at all costs
Store Manager (Former Employee) - Dublin, County Dublin - 1 June 2023
Head office senior management has changed recently and since then, in the run of only 5 months, whole head office left the company and all senior people from stores also. New senior management are full of themselves, manage by fear, crazy demands and unrealistic targets. Operations manager is giving fake feedback to the company on recruitment sites to cover it all up.
Pros
Difficult to find any
Cons
Poor treatment

No work life balance
Order Taker (Former Employee) - Dublin - 31 May 2023
I have been in the company for half year or so and what I witnessed was shocking to me. New management has pushed out all people they didnt agreed with. Stores would get calls from senior management I'm the middle of rush times with pointless questions causing unnecessary stress and pressure to the teams. There are great people on store levels but very poorly managed by head office, people called on their days off constantly due to company being understaffed. The culture in tje company is bad , we all felt like just numbers. I respect myself too much to be a part of this , so decided to part ways.
Pros
Free food, brilliant people at store level, most pushed out though.
Cons
Micromanagement, toxic environment, no respect for people, low pay vs duties.

Positive atmosphere and leadership
Orders (Current Employee) - Glenageary, County Dublin - 31 May 2023
I've been working at base for over a year now and I can only say positive things about the job. I find management so incredibly supportive and they put the wellbeing of their staff first. The team are hard workers but have a great attitude to the job and love what they do. Base is the place to work if your looking to forward your career and step up the ladder. Management help you with this opportunity!
Pros
Supportive, flexi hours, lunches, fun atmosphere
Cons
None

Positive new management
Order Taker (Current Employee) - Dublin, County Dublin - 31 May 2023
I've been working in one of the stores for months now and have benefitted from the changes in the company. Previous management who wouldn't spend time with staff or help them learn to go into new roles, wouldn't help clean store or anything. New management who are in are more polite to staff, want to work with us and help us learn while cleaning and keeping the store as they wanted and including us in everything has been a great change and see a strong future in the company
Pros
Most positivity throughout company
Cons
Busy times can be stressful but not too bad

Enjoyable and career growth
Store Manager (Current Employee) - Dublin, County Dublin - 30 May 2023
Been in the company for a while now and find it great to work with. Having own control of running the store, rostering, changing what's needed in the store to improve its running of shifts is encouraged. Whenever have issues have a supportive operations and head office team to help and contact when needed. Great atmosphere to be in, with more positive attitudes and outlooks then there was before.
Pros
Good atmosphere
Cons
Nothing to say

Micro management, extremely low morale
Order taker (Former Employee) - Dublin, County Dublin - 30 May 2023
Worked here for only a few months but in that time I witnessed horrific practices being done by head office. I saw several store managers aswell as those in senior positions being practically forced out by new management. What do I mean by this? Micro management equivalent to using a fine comb to fix one's hair. There were dozens off times where head office would come in and order expecting better treatment, or failing this they would ring up during busy service times like a Friday or Saturday night and enquire as too if we were answering the phones. Extremely anti productive considering that by doing this we were blocking a potential customer ringing up their order. Any time a store manager or older member of staff tried to speak up on behalf off the younger / newer members or push new ideas they would be shot down and ridiculed. You are just a number in that place, nothing more nothing else . There was also times where I would be drafted in too work at other stores despite as quite literally a few hours notice if even meaning it would be impossible for me to go to the other side off dublin due to traffic. Yet me not knowing that I was gonna be put into a store 2 hours away on bus before I came in was my fault???
Pros
Discount on food
Cons
Abuse from Head office staff, constantly high stress levels, extremely low morale, head office manages at such a micro level that they use a magnifying glass to spot errors

Great and inclusive place to work
Manager (Current Employee) - Dublin, County Dublin - 29 May 2023
Been working here and have found it a great place to work, the team here help each other out across stores and hands on help/communication with office and managers is great. Great being here when positive changes are happening and exciting to be apart of. Can see the company growing with new stores on the way and more options to grow within and with the right people.
Pros
Growth and team
Cons
None to say

Fast paced but enjoyable
Front of House Staff (Former Employee) - Dublin - 29 May 2023
I really enjoyed my time at base. The staff and management couldn't have been nicer in my opinion. They really care about the staff and do genuinely want to see you progress. There were many opportunities for me to be trained up in all different roles in the stores which was great and gave me a lot of experience. Its very fast paced at times but I love that kind of work environment.
Pros
Discount, training opportunities, good support from management.

Fun place to work
Team Leader (Current Employee) - Dublin, County Dublin - 29 May 2023
Lots of changes have happened with senior management and management in general recently, and in my opinion it has never been better. All the changes are taking us from the stone ages to the future. It’s so exciting to be apart of the company going to new levels. New head office team are interested in making the stores life easier and have always taken my feedback and are helpful. Old colleagues with bad attitudes have recently left and it’s really becoming a nicer environment to work in.
Pros
Free lunch, good pay
Cons
Weekend work

Do not recomend
Manager (Former Employee) - Dublin, County Dublin - 28 May 2023
Has been taken over by new management. The environment has become very toxic with everyone being taken for granted and given impossible tasks in impossible time frames. They will bully out anyone they do not like. Everyday there is someone giving a notice. Wage is very low for all staff roles and there has been recent pay cuts and all incentives have been scraped.
Pros
None
Cons
Longs hours, no incentives, pay cuts

Avoid at all costs
Store Manager (Former Employee) - Dublin, County Dublin - 27 May 2023
If you have self respect, I would highly recommend not working for this company. This company has changed within the last year from a place that was fun, amazing and caring of its employees to a toxic, demanding, no care for anyone ship wreck. The change in head office management and new ownership broke amazing teams and morale. If you were a manager you became stressed with ridiculous work loads on top of doing front of house shifts and making pizza, to being anxious as head office people sometimes just pop in to order pizza and don’t even talk to you, or even to the point where you are overworked and doing more than your hours and never thanked. Head office came with ridiculous demands, unrealistic visions to better improve the “morale” of the company. If you want to work with senior management who have barely even got the basic knowledge to run a company and lead a team, the apply button if your way to go. You’ll rarely get a “Hi or Hello” in your email usually just a boring, condescending “All”. The company might be customer focused, but I can tell you they don’t care about it’s employees and just look at you like a number not a human. I hope this helps people applying for this company, I wouldn’t let people just walk in there unaware of the things they aren’t selling on the job specs or interviews.
Pros
50% off
Cons
Toxic, Micro Management, Over worked, Underpaid, Stressed

Toxic environment
Rather not say (Former Employee) - Dublin, County Dublin - 26 May 2023
I started to work in Base years ago and it was challenging but fun and full of opportunities place where people and passion were real company core values. In last year, due to change of ownership it has changed to toxic place with higher management micromanaging to its highest possible level. Profit is before anything else and its people are last in line to care about. Turnover in company reached almost hundred percent at this stage. Would not recommend to anyone who values their mental health and any growth opportunity. Base shattered me completely in last months.
Pros
None
Cons
Micromanagement, toxic environment, high turnover

Narcissistic senior management
Store Manager (Former Employee) - Dublin, County Dublin - 26 May 2023
Company used to be really good however since senior management change in head office, all went downhill. The culture of the company has worsened since. New senior management are full of narcissistic attitudes, constantly micro managing, unrealistic demands etc. Store managers would get emails or texts at crazy hours with shocking demands or questions like why did the store not take any orders for 4mins or why is caramel ice cream out of stock. People get no respect at all from new senior management. Even since the change, literally everyone in the company has left- whole head office departments- finance, operations, marketing, HR as well as most of the people from stores- literally no one wants to work with the new management. Definitely don't recommend if you are looking for healthy culture at work and head office who thinks they are the better than everyone and you are just a number.
Pros
Food
Cons
Toxic culture, horrible senior management

Very bad place to work for
Rather not to say (Former Employee) - Dublin, County Dublin - 23 May 2023
Since change of Head Office this year company goes only downhill. Poor experience, 0 people’s management skills. Questionable knowledge of basic things like labour, GP etc. 0 respect for people. All basically told, officially - if you don’t like it there’s the door. Most of the staff left or during notice. New Managers joining, leaving within 3 months etc. Quarterly bonuses not paid anymore as financial situation of the company poor but no problem flashing brand new company cars in front of everybody. Very toxic and stressful environment, avoid if you respect yourself

Cons
Toxic place

Easy place to work
Front of House Staff (Former Employee) - Stillorgan, County Dublin - 16 November 2021
My time in Base helped me with my professional growth. When I started with them, I hadn’t much experience but they took me on and trained me up really well, making me a capable worker in retail and customer service. Big emphasis on staff wellbeing here, in my experience. The staff are brilliant and work is never boring here. I think they maybe take too many orders than they’re able to handle at times, it can get crazy busy and leave customers waiting super long (90 mins sometimes) which can cause stress to the whole team. I enjoyed my time in Base, the wages are a bit low considering the amount of managerial work involved from the get go for FOH staff (admin, cash counts etc) but apart from that it was great.
Pros
Staff discounts, good atmosphere and staff
Cons
Low wages, no tips, heavy workload

Great People but draining
Front of House Staff (Former Employee) - Stillorgan, County Dublin - 22 September 2020
Although the staff were always nice, the work could be draining as you would have people constantly giving out to you. There was a lack of leadership in the Stillorgan branch and young staff were given far too much responsibility. Staff who had been there 2 months were sometimes responsible for the accounting side of the business. When it was busy you would not get a break.
Pros
Free Pizza, Nice staff
Cons
Long hours and barely any breaks
