This is a fast paced job with a variety of tasks each day ! Under staffed so always under pressure! A lot of customer interaction and you do Learn lots on the job ! Targets & sales strategies needed .
Too much work to get done some days ! On feet all day !
Generally okay as a company besides from the ridiculous sick policy, hit and miss management, ridiculously long hours, I find it hard to ask them for them to be flexible for my needs with reasonable notice, however they may change your shift with an hours notice. Pay is more than fair, days are too long and most stores are understaffed so it’s difficult to get any work assigned to you done. Dont offer to do a closing shift because they will make you do it every day once you can do cash. Stressful work environment and work life balance is hard with the hours they give.
Good salary, long breaks
Stupidly long days, awful work/life balance, understaffed, inflexible, too strict without leeway
Boots Ireland use a wide range of bullying tactics to achieve their targets. Management misguidedly think this is how you get productivity from employees. Unfortunately, the.personnel responsible for this kick down culture have been in situ for years. The result is there is an endless turnover of staff. Boots was once a good company to work for, but now it is unrecognisable and a place I am ashamed to be associated with. This sentiment is widespread amongst many of my colleagues.
The pros are the fundamental rights which stem from Irish employment law, not from the company.
You will likely be bullied, and this will be endorsed at the highest levels. Managers are without fail incompetent, usually uneducated and lack the most basic concepts of professionalism and ethical behaviour.
It's a good company to work for specialty it's Very organised company well trained and ready to work and face the customer with smile 🤠 know what to do and how to do it when u have great coligue s around u standing tall together to give a good customer care and advice
Management are a joke, I have been there 14 years and we have had 10 different store managers. Out of that 10, three were fair and good! That’s it.......the rest had their favourites and everything was given to them. The current manager is the worst one of all. Even if you have holidays booked and signed off on, if one of her smoke buddies wants it, yourS will be cancelled and given to them. They have to do absolutely no work.......mostly just sit in her office for most of their shift chatting and talking (loudly) about assistant managers and other staff. And they can take as long a break as they like. They get away with bullying And belittling other more vulnerable staff members, and just laugh about it. The store manager herself uses some of the most foul and unprofessional language I have ever heard from a manager...........and this is when she is talking about how useless her assistant managers are. She bully’s and belittles them. When I started in boots, I loved it, it was one of the best places to work. But sadly, that’s all gone by the wayside, as they treat long term members of staff as children, and You are nothing more then a number now to them..........and that’s sadly why they are losing a lot of good staff. If you want to feel stressed and anxious going to work.......then work for boots
The whole place
Working in boots pharmacy is an extremely busy place all year round. You are constantly helping customers seek their desired products, based on their symptoms or their preferred medication, relating to their history; As well as general desired items based on their given information. Although it is a fast paced environment and is excellent for those who like to challenge themselves, it often leaves no room for those who prefer time for social life.
We want to help you find great companies. Help us be the best!

Bad management. Management are bullies. In boots when management are being reviewed they act so nice, once the management reviews are over they go back to being bullies. I have never worked in such a bad company before. The management have staff in tears a lot. Even ladies that have worked there for years will be made to feel useless at reviews and are left in tears. They have no loyalty to the staff.
Manager is like a big child and is afraid to talk to anybody so he gets his line managers to do it for him and line managers do not talk or communicate with one another and walk around drinking coffee and being on there phones 24/7 the staff are the people that run the place and they were the best people you would ever meet
Hours are stupid
For my school's two week work experience I worked as a sales assistant in Boots. Although it was only two weeks I had a positive experience and learned a lot about what it takes to work in a pharmacy. It also helped improve my social skills by helping both the customers and employees.
A good place to work, friendly staff nice customers. Varied work to do Day to day. Management is nice to deal with and they will allow you to upskill and move up the ladder
Unrealistic work load and targets when understaffed
Money good, staff discount ok 22.5% off boots own brand. 12.5% off all else. Cashing up procedure is a joke especially at Christmas. Newbridge management in Kildare is really inefficient. Favouritism is rife
Ordinary level staff were really nice
Everything has a time pressure especially at Christmas. Staff canteen abysmal
once all objectives where looked after the work was fine , very busy and a lot to get done in the allocated time frame, but all in all they where a nice company to work with .
flexibility within the job
some management treat the staff like school children
