You can not progress
General Operative (Current Employee) –  Dublin13 January 2020
Brown Thomas is good place for people who arrived and do not speak English so good. But after two months it starts to be very boring and demotivating because you see that you can not progress there. People work for 6 or more years and still they have same salary like in the beginning.

A company to grow within
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) –  Dublin8 January 2020
All the areas, from HR to management or sales are well interconnected so you can have direct contact with any of them. Learning the guts of a great company its very useful and suitable for those who want to grow within it. Also they offered good benefits to the employee.

Good company to work for - great colleagues especially during challenging times that unfortunately are experienced by many people. Good possibility to move within the organisation at different levels and locations.

Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Dublin3 November 2019
It’s been a fun ride working in BT, I’ve made new friends, my sales skills has definitely increased for the better so as my confidence, dealing with clients in a very professional way also. Lovely management team , you’re given an opportunity to speak on anything and give opinions on what could be better for the company and customers. Overall it’s a good place to work in retail .

If there's no customer there's nothing you can do.
You must keep pushing the sale to get more commissions.

Supervisor/Sales Assistant (Current Employee) –  Limerick30 July 2019
Excellent work conditions, great work atmosphere. Management is extremely helpful and professional. Customer service is not the easiest job, but the training provided within makes it more manageable. I personally love the sense of unity in this company; you make friends for life and get surrounded by luxury!

Busy store but management lacking
Sales assistant (Former Employee) –  Cork23 May 2019
Store was often quiet with too many staff on the floor so sales were spread thinly and commision was reduced as a result.
Great atmosphere and culture amongst the floor staff but managment was not particularly warm and created a doom and gloom atmosphere when they were on the floor with some staff being afraid to voice any issues they may be having
Pros
discounts
Cons
sporadic hours

Overall an average place to work
Senior Sales Assistant (Former Employee) –  Dublin19 May 2019
A typical day is being over worked and underpaid. I learned how to deal with difficult customers here and also difficult managers. Retail is a hard enough job but Brown Thomas was extremely difficult due to the politics. Management acting like they were better then staff due to where they were from and who they knew. Extreme pressure put on staff when the ceo was coming to visit, which all seemed very fake.
Pros
discounts
Cons
long hours, underpaid, management, type of staff they have working here
