Great atmosphere and fun place to work. The staff are very tight knit and it’s a great environment for teamwork. Typical day includes buying, selling and exchanging goods. We test incoming hardware to ensure it meets company standards and is fully functioning. It’s not a difficult job at all. Initially it can seem impossible however once you get in the swing of things and are in a yeah tech savvy you will be fine. The worst part of the job is probably the same answer for all retail jobs and that is difficult customers but this is part and parcel with any job in the customer service industry so you know what you’re in for. As long as you’re a polite person who is helpful and sincere you shouldn’t face too many harsh customers.

Bad place to work for
The only good thing about working for CeX is the people you meet, and the flexibility. They don't care about staff and see everyone, no matter how good, as expendable. There is zero loyalty and it's completely run on nepotism

A nice environment to work, with good banter between workmates and employers.
Decent hours, payment had a lot left to be desired, to be honest.


Monthly payment did make living difficult.

Great Place for Experience!
I enjoyed working and starting out at CeX, I gained a lot of knowledge and experience in the retail world. I’d recommend it as a starter job or part time job for students as the wages aren’t exactly spectacular and would be hard to live alone off them. Loved working here really had the craic in stores with all colleagues and have made friends for life!

Recommend as a last ditch job
There were multiple employees, managers and cover managers working through the store, couldn't get a proper training due to the change of management

Was unknowingly let off without warning and reason a week after my contract was supposedly cancelled.


Companies high standards to push sales and membership schemes at 85% per member staff were more valued than some training aspects.

Constant change of employees/management. Value company targets a bit too much.

It's an Amazing Experience
CeX is an amazing place to work, it may be different in the other CeX stores but the one I was in was just worth it. You learn more as you progress and the people there are really easy to socialize and work with. Would even love to work there again, no doubt. It could be really busy on the weekends and you have to be a fast worker and really knowledgeable in technology, games and media.

A day at work would consist of sorting games out , testing the games out , testing phones,testing playstations
I learned how to properly check a phone to see if it is legit to buy or not

The workplace is great its always a good mood job the staff really make CeX a great place to work.

The hardest part of the job is trying to learn everything you need to do on a daily basis

The most enjoyable part of the job is getting to play a game on a console to check if the console is working

Unrealistic demands for minimum reward
If you like being constantly busy with no time to finish all of the tasks that are expected from you then you might like working here. Negative managers and difficult customers coupled with high levels of stress at times. Bonus on offer is not enough to drive performance and training is basically non existant. Never enough staff on due to budget restrictions yet you are expected to serve every customer in a timely manner as well as complete your other duties,which again must be finished on time due to budget restrictions. We might sell technology but we are not robots!

Casual but professional with focus on customer satisfaction.
The shop is quite small but plays constant well known music. Employees are there to assist Eachother and strive to make sure customers have the best possible experience.

Fun yet pointless
The atmosphere to work in is fantastic. Everyday is an exciting one as the workplace has a very positive energy to it, the people you work with are the best thing about the company, even upper management is really great. The problem is that you never feel like you are going anywhere, it really feels like a dead-end position as there isn't much opportunity to go.

The best of times and the worst of times

The staff.

Your actual team, are usually great.

Any excuse for a free drink

Fast paced

Relaxing to work as long as your are not in management

You get some great customers


Cons

The lack of respect from the Managers, Ops, and basically anyone who isn't a Super or SA

Supers always getting a hard time because they are the middle man.

Customers can be a nightmare, but not all.

Judgement on who you are and not how good your work performance or ethic is.

Utter unmanable wage budget.

Nice people working there but received basically no training for the job.
The management and other staff were friendly and helped me settle into the job quickly enough. However I received half an hour of training on the first day then was expected to know almost everything about the job

Shocking Company to Work for
If there was a 0 Star I would be pressing that
Work for them for just under a Year, They from senior management down they are to busy going on the lash to actually do something about the company


The pay pits and treat all staff who do not work themselves to the ground as if they have the Plague or their not "CEX material"


They do not pay staff the correct amount and do anything to make sure the staff do not get their bonus


I would avoid working for them at all cost. Unless you really really dislike them.


You would be paid more as an assistant manager than a SM.

Staff are under trained, ideas are ignored. Company is sold to you as a family environment its not they breed an atmosphere of fear from OPs Managers. They push staff around and out when suits. Theres no-one to turn to when theres problems. Questions are answered with questions. As a store manager i was asked to more or less bully staff by my OPs manager, these issues were raised to higher Management and ignored. No over time pay for managers, expected to work long hours, days off are non existent unless you turn your phone off. AVOID. LOW pay grade.
