Good work-life balance and rewarding job caring for clients

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
The nature of caregiving can sometimes mean not enough time is given for clients. But the time spent caring for and getting to know clients lead to high job satisfaction. Sometimes there is no time between client calls and sometimes there is excess time. This can be improved. Salary is fair but mileage subsidy insufficient given current economic climate. Generally, it is lone-working but there is good colleague collaboration whenever calls require additional carer. Decent work-life balance.

Pros

High job satisfaction and client interaction

Cons

Time management between calls

We are so grateful for your kind words. Thanks for sharing your review with us and the community.

The worst place to work. There is no system and they dont adhere to health and safety regulations.

It is the worst company to work. You never have a chance for upgrading and get better salary even working for years with them. They don't care about their carers . They ring you all day even on your days off, even if you are on holidays, they dont pay sick pay, if you have an accident that its not your fault you need to stay home without salary and also they dont even ring you to see if you are well. If I could put zero starts I would.

Thank you for your feedback, it's important for us to hear both the good and bad experiences people have so we can focus on improving your experience. In response to some of your concerns raised, I can assure you we care very much about our care teams, our team provides the highest quality of care everyday to clients across Ireland and Comfort Keepers are very proud of the work we achieve together. I can also confirm we do pay a rate increase for length of service and qualification along with premiums at weekends and many of our team have been promoted to office and supervisory roles. Our No1 priority is to ensure our clients receive safe care at every visit and due to circumstances out of our control this may mean you are contacted outside of your availability however we understand that it is not possible for you to always help on these occasions and that's ok too. I am very sorry that your experience has not been a good one and if you would like to speak to me further please don't hesitate to contact me on mollyduff@comfortkeepers.ie

Management are very helpful

Comfort keepers are a great company to work for. On a daily basis the Home help that carers deliver can be stressful at times but Management are very helpful in backing us up. Would recommend Comfort keepers overall to any clients NOK.

flexible but chaotic

work itself and customers were great, but they would call you non stop, change roster without contacting you, don't inform customers of changes which makes them really unhappy

Friendly work environment

Great place to work management always as helpful as they can be. Making sure their staff are looked after and take the time to make sure you’re ok aswel as their clients. The only thing I didn’t like was the driving from house to house and with some clients they more so needed cleaners not carers to come to their home

Pros

Good work life balance

Cons

Driving from house to house for not great pay

Great Place to Work

Working with Comfort Keepers has been a great experience. Its clear from the senior management team through to the care team that everyone really cares about the work they do, and they want to deliver the best possible care they can.Home care is not an easy or glamorous industry to work in, but the services Comfort Keepers deliver means that all clients are able to continue to live at home happily and safely, in their communities and with the people that really matter to them, at such a difficult stage in their life.Hard work is recognised and career progression is available for anyone with the right attitude.I would have no issues recommending Comfort Keepers as an employer to any of my friends or family.

Pros

Great work, Great People and Career Progression

Balance

Had the balance of living outside of work and also working when wanting to, the management was so friendly and understanding of personal circumstances. I loved it here

Don't do unless you want to work all hours for less than minimum wage because travel time isn't counted. Wait in your car between calls unpaid.

This could be a lovely job if properly regulated paid and managed but the reality is far from that. The company think we are on call but not paid the rates. Clients are often a distance from your home and your other clients. Mileage is only paid at a low rate between clients. Often you have to wait in your car between calls not paid,. Driving time not paid. Working 30 hours you really are working far more. Early mornings late evenings hard to have a life round the job. Only plus are the other carers and the clients and families.

Pros

Lovely clients and families

Cons

Low pay, long days, poor mileage, not paid travel time or if you have gaps between clients, Not paid to go home in gaps between clients

Positive Place to work

Since starting with the company, the environment has been nothing but warm and positive. The day to day can have its challenges like any role but there is endless support from colleagues in the office or by managers etc in other areas/branches and they only a teams call away. Getting to know the carers/clients has been the rewarding part, being able to have a conversation and being a support whenever it is needed. The role can be fast paced but having the opportunity to plan the day and week ahead helps and having the support to do so.

Bad place to work

Will sell the job to you in interview make it sound great then reality hits and everything you were told you realise was lies , they will try send you everywhere they dont care ,send you to ennis numerous times a day only get paid for mileage from one client to another but you end up having a few hrs break between clients if you go home you dont get paid for that mileage ,dont get paid to travel to first client or home from last client so all in all you could end up doing up to 200 km a day and getting nothing for that mileage they have you working mornings, afternoons, evenings and late calls up to 10 at night they break the 11hr rest break all the time, they dont give proper breaks or work schedule you could have 4or 5 hours work in day but the shifts could vary from 8 in morning to 10 at night very annoying will put shifts on your roster without even asking you they only care about slotting a carer in a box to cover a shift they wont listen to anything you say all in all very bad .

Desperate place to work

No care for the carers. Ignored for everything and anything we say. Constantly harassing carers on days off. Management and supervisor's ignore any concerns about clients. Clients calls and concerns aren't addressed. No consideration for carers who don't have their own transport, and/or too much or too little time between Clients.
