Enjoyable Workplace

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
I worked in Easons as Christmas staff and I really enjoyed it. I found it interesting to keep up to date with current book trends. The management were very fair, I never had any problems getting time off as long as I gave enough notices. Any changes to hours/roster are made in good time and are always confirmed with you first before they are changed. Very fair breaks. Staff were all lovely.

Pros

Hour long lunch breaks

Cons

Days felt very long when the shop wasn't busy

Easons

Over worked and underpaid Staff grossly inappropriate and with a manager that seemed more content trying to form a click of his favorites onlyIf you love books I’d give this a miss and if you want to be treated like a valuable member of the team I’d avoid as well

None

Bullying

Tough Work

Really enjoyed the staff, a mixed bag of young and old but everyone was very welcoming and kind in their own way. The management had been changed up in late 2017, forcing managers that had a very good relationship with the staff and were all very approachable and understanding, to be changed for managers with different techniques that changed the atmosphere of the workplace. Most days would consist of working on tills, helping customers and creating displays. The hardest part of the job was back to school, as the shop became very busy and large shipments of school books were delivered regularly and these books would have to be moved to the stockroom. I really enjoyed dealing with customers and have very fond memories of the staff

Pros

20% discounts on items

Cons

very frequent 3 hour shifts during week days.

Progressive Workplace

I felt that in easons that eventually il get a chance to do more progressive things as i was first hired to cover tills over busy holidays for only three months. After three months i was offered to stay and do more than just tills and went on to have my own department. Take orders, in store displays, Front window displays etc.I was also trusted to take in stock and put out stock as in books, magazines, confectionary and stationary.

Pros

lunches and breaks

Cons

rush hours
