Great For Students
Absolutely great place for students, management are very understanding that most employees are students and are very flexible with that. They’re also pretty flexible with time off, and it’s easy to apply for time off or to swap shifts. The pay is okay, after your probation it’s 20c above minimum wage and you get decent bank holiday pay. The atmosphere is great, it’s a highly friendly store and there’s always someone to talk to. Every few months there’s chances at promotion to team leader, as long as you apply, as well as chances to transfer stores. Unfortunately corporate aren’t great and put a lot of pressure on staff and constantly change the goal posts of what they want, without actually considering the staff themselves. Breaks given are very good for hospitality, usually an hour for a morning shift and then 45-1hr for an 8hr+ shift and 30min for a 6 hour shift. You’re allowed to take food from the restaurant with you, but during your shift often are able to snack on fries or take some spare patties. You’re also allowed the freestyle drinks.

Fast paced and fun environment
A great learning experience for all areas. You learn many different skills and interact with all kinds of people. The experience depends on the management and communication can be quite difficult.

Fun place to work for a first job
Five guys was the first job I ever worked, and I stayed there for just under two years. It was relatively flexible and worked for me while I was in college, they allowed shift covering and swapping without much stress. There was the option of morning (roughly 6am - 3pm), mid (12-9 or 1-10) or evening (4pm - 1am) shifts and you can give your preference (though you won’t necessarily get it). It was a nice place to work, I got on well with the rest of the staff, management were friendly and generally quite relaxed. The shifts could feel quite long, however they try to keep people well rounded in the tasks they can perform - on the floor, the register, at the grill, on fries etc so when you’ve had a few days of one job you can switch it up and do something different which helps.

productive and fun workplace
The staff in five guys first of all have remained some of the closest people to me in my life. after working here I have gathered confidence in a work environment and this has been all down to the management and crew team.

Energetic and Fun place to work
The managerial staff and general mood of the establishment are very fun and casual but this doesn't take away from the efficiency of the shop at all. The workplace is dynamic and interesting, the work load is a lot but somehow manages to remain bearable due to the atmosphere the entire crew provides. This is all a meticulously crafted atmosphere by the heads of the industry that have refused to change their business practices since their inception, which in and of itself is commendable.
