A tough Job but it is rewarding at times
Paramedic (Current Employee) - Sligo, County Sligo - 4 August 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedA typical day and working could involve any type of call imaginable from routine calls to life saving ones. Every shift is the change to learn from the calls you a exposed to. I work with a good group of people and we have a good repore with each other. The hardest part of the Job is working the night shifts and the unsociable hrs. Helping people and getting the change protentially save life.
Pros
The time off
Cons
Shift work

I would be working there still but for a Government embargo preventing the HSE from hiring people and I embarked on another career.
HSE HGV Driver (Former Employee) - Mullingar, County Westmeath - 31 August 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? I had two jobs part time as a relief driver delivering hospital beds , hoists , specialist mattresses and chairs to people in the community and nursing home settings. I also collected challenged adults in and out of rehabilitation services. Both jobs were very rewarding and I made friends with colleagues and clients for life. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? I didn’t really find any part of the job stressful probably because I liked what I was doing and if you really enjoy what you work at it’s a pleasure and it would be hard to get stressed. I sometimes saw clients I had delivered to passing away and it would make me sad. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? It was a nice place to work. Management were very nice and approachable and colleagues the best. I also had three different challenged adults helping me every week they were allowed to work so many hours each and split the week between them. This was very important to them and me. Wonderful people and a wonderful pioneering idea. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Collect clients from their homes and bring them to Rehab Centre. Load lorry as per inventory and set off for private houses and nursing homes in Longford and Westmeath to deliver and collect hospital equipment back to base and change to minibus to leave clients home.

v good
Data Analyst (Current Employee) - Carrigaline, County Cork - 2 June 2023
Management at caffè nero is known to be putting a lot of pressure on its workers. They work you to the bone for a wage that isn’t fair at all. There is a reason why they’re constantly hiring with such a high staff turnover.

Horrific experience
Nurse Intern (Former Employee) - Galway, County Galway - 28 April 2023
As a former employee of the Adult Acute Mental Health Unit and General side, I regrettably experienced a highly unfavorable work environment. The management culture was severely problematic, resulting in a toxic atmosphere, and compounded by gossipy staff and rampant bullying. The workplace environment had such a profound effect on the employees that some individuals needed to take time off due to their deteriorating mental health. While I am passionate about my job, the unprofessional and toxic behavior of the staff hindered my ability to perform effectively. The incessant talk of the unapproachable management and the critical opinions of the Charge Nurse Manager's performance conveyed a lack of professionalism. There was no attention given to personal development, and the treatment of students was also suboptimal.
Pros
Bank holiday and Sunday bonus
Cons
Everything else

There because it's mandatory
Doctor (Current Employee) - Dublin, County Dublin - 11 April 2023
Could be great. So many wonderful people who want to work hard and help patients. So much potential lost due to burnt out staff, paperwork and terrible IT support. Nil psychological supports either for staff.
Pros
Regular wage
Cons
Terrible staffing shortages

Too stressful
Hygiene Attendant (Former Employee) - Limerick, County Limerick - 5 April 2023
Not recommended for anyone looking to have a good back. Supervisors are always on your face trying to rattle you. Slow career progression from this role.

Good Organization
Community Swabber (Former Employee) - South Dublin, County Dublin - 1 February 2023
It's a good work experience. Has bit organizational delay because of the giant volume HSE manages. But kudos to the team. Happy that I was part of the team as COVID Swabber and Clerical officer during time of pandemic.

healthcare in community
Assistant Staff Officer (Current Employee) - Louth, County Louth - 8 June 2022
Friendly, secure, but no dues given to hard workers, slackers get just as much . Promoting on merit should be done rather than hiring from outside people who just good at interviews and dont know the job, creates tension and feeling of dispare to longterm hard workers.

Medical Manpower - Busy but enjoyable
Clerical Officer (Former Employee) - Tipperary, County Tipperary - 25 April 2022
I worked in the Medical Manpower section in a hospital in the South-South East area, enjoyable work, some times are busy but managers are very fair to deal with. Would definitely work there again

Overworked, underpaid.
Staff Midwife (Former Employee) - Dublin - 18 March 2022
Just don't get into nursing. There are better paid jobs out there with far greater work culture. It's very stressful to be a midwife in Irish maternity hospitals.
