Productive and fun workplace

At homesavers I started off not knowing about the working industry, I was thought how to merchandise and operate tills, I made friends for life, the management were just so lovely and understanding with any problems that was had! I loved my journey as a sales assistant throughout the whole 9 months! It was a pleasure to work there.

Pros

Staff discount

Poor management

Homesavers is a bad company to work for, you are guaranteed and promised loads of hours, but later in the months there is noHours and your lucky to get more than 10 in a good week. For such a big shop you would think you would get more hours. Manager isn’t a nice person at all. Doesn’t know what their at half the times

Terrible company

Terrible company to work for, promise full time hours but make you sign a 10 hour contract. Make you set up the shop before it opens, then terminate your contract 6 weeks after opening because the lack of customers means they can't give staff hours. Also no advertising done for the store so people don't know where it is.

Pros

Nice staff

Cons

Poor pay, terrible shifts and bad managers

Best people

People you work with are the best thing about working here. Progression is always an option if the manager likes you enough. Travel can be required to other locations which isn't ideal if you don't drive

Great workplace but bad pay

I enjoyed my time working in Homesavers with all the great employees there. However young employees are taken advantage of when it comes to wages.

Good to progress

Good place to progress if you work hard enough. Got promoted few times in pass 3 years and become store manager of my own store. Sometimes hard to work but in general I'm happy where I am as I'm already almost 3 years here so no complaints

Great staff

Great staff, fast paced, lots of hours available if you want, but expect phone calls on days off and a not so happy manager if you say no, roster changed constantly

Avoid

Do not work here, management have absolutely no respect for staff and are treated as disposable objects. Left for days in store without heating. No thanks ever given to staff. Management find problems in every single thing and are never happy with your work. No work life balance, advertised as a part time job and then rostered in 40+ hours some weeks. Dirty staff areas and toilets. Never worked in a place as bad. Stay far away please.

Sales driven

A good place to work as there is plenty opportunities to progress. You need to have patience with processes as they tend to change with no notice. Good communication with area manager, weekly visits.

Pros

Progression

Cons

Long hours, little pay

Avoid at all costs

Honestly the worst place I have ever worked at. You are at the mercy of owners who have not one clue as to what they are doing. They change the rules and regulations all the time and then look to blame anyone else when their great ideas get them nowhere. No loyalty or appreciation for staff whatsoever and will literally throw you under the bus when the are caught out doing wrong. Too many cooks and cliques in stores and nepotism is rife. If you dare call any of either management or above that out for doing something wrong you are made to feel like you are in the wrong and are demoted by design. If you have an issue with other staff it is brushed off as they either have been spoken to or it is just who they are and you are pushed out of the company. What you are expected to do as a supervisor for the rate they pay you is definitely not worth it.

Pros

Literally nothing

Cons

All of the above

Productive with a lovely atmosphere.

The manager was an absolute pleasure to work for! Extremely considerate. Stern but very fair! All of the staff were kind and friendly. Ideal part time job, with great possibilities for advancement within the company if you so wish.

Pros

Excellent staff and management. Ideal working environment.

Cons

Basic salary.

Worst place ever to work

This comapny is a joke wrong pay all the time. To much stock were you can't put it out. Lack of interest from management and HR. They don't care about staff. Discount is ridiculous should be more. Underpaid to be treated like donkeys. All the supervisors are the real management dealing with everything and get all the c**p they are even underpaid . I'd have to say the organisation of this comapny is shocking. Worst part it's like been back in secondary school the way most of them go on. Anyone that wants to work for them don't waste your time seriously.

Pros

Some people, supervisors, when the heat works.

Cons

Bad pay, massive underpayments frequently, poor discount, bad management, lack of heating. Pay for your uniforms. Get a replacement 6 months later and your paying again, 6 months contract for everyone no job security

Ok

OK place to start if you don't have work experience. Would recommend to school leavers looking for their first job or students still in secondary school
