IBM doesn't care about the average employee. They care about the board and the executives. With the elimination of resources every 6-12 months there is no job security or culture of security.Low level management has virtually no authority, everything is driven from the very top.
Management and company direction or lack thereof
This was my dream job! Interview process literally took 3 months but it was water under the bridge once I started and saw what a special team I was working with.
I love how they make you feel appreciated as an employee. I am trying to go back to IBM now that I am back in NC. I love how breakfast is served in a different building. They encourage you in all ways. Great compensation plan. They are not scare to pay their people. Managers are well aware of their jobs and push you for the better through coaching.
Employee appreciations, benefits, Pto, overtime, great environment
Tighter security in certain parts, better maintenance.
The CbD program was well planned out and allowed for us to really get into meaningful work right out of university. Improvements could be made in placing consultants on projects that are appropriate for them considering experience and education.
They have no idea where they want to go or how to get there. They see the new shinny way of doing things and try to get there just to be late and with bad product so they give on up it and go for the next shinny. Can be laidoff at anytime and most management doesn't give a dang about you.
Pay, Ibm, no direction
Work culture is awesome and your work is always recognized and also rewarded ny internal job postings i never had to meet HR for any reason. No politics and no hypocrite's entertained. People were helping me when ever it was required and they never got irritated doing the same task multiple time's. I have seen valid and legit people moving up the ladder and i was also given a Chance a golden opportunity to become a manager do to my health reason's i qas not able to continue with IBM.
Big corporate culture in every sense of the term. Showing initiative is not really appreciated unless end result is overwhelming positive. Management does becomes deaf when delivering a negative assessment of a situation and suggested actions.
Technical infrastructure (except for reliance on Lotus Notes)
Lack of company direction, Company goals have no modification based on division dynamics. Micromanagement of tasks, Expense restrictions interfere with accomplishing goals
i used to work in evening shiftlearned the corporate EtiquetteManagement was OK but not great.it was a collaborative and team building culture.Working in night shiftwithin team it was fun, learning and helping each other. Best part was the company fest.
Free meals and trasport
Night and 10 Hrs shift
Site management makes it fun to come to work. Culture is a mix of old IBMers and the generation of IBMers. Collaborative environment with different departments you can be exposed to.
Tech giant; lots of offerings
balances revenue with periodic layoffs
Todays IBM is living in its shadow and if not plugged with stimulus of todays energy, soon it might be over.I learnt a lot from management and protocol perspective, following the books, having right ethos, but from technical point, IBM is too bureaucratic in nature, too many non technical folks running the show.In the world of Cloud, you cant have leadership from COBOL and FORTRON's era
Process is good, Employee friendly, Work Life balance
Too less salary, Technology wise its too old
