Good first job for students
Cook (Former Employee) - Highpoint Shopping Centre VIC - 27 June 2022
If you are a student looking to get a first job KFC would be a good place to work. The younger you are the more shifts you'll get and they are usually long hours. You'll pick up a lot of transferable skills and you will be enable to enhance these skills due to the fast pace nature of the job. You will receive the minimum salary that will increase as you age.
Pros
Free lunches, easy once you learn what to do
Cons
You will lose shifts the longer you are there

Holds unrealistic expectation for their employees
Cook (Former Employee) - Rocky Mountain House, AB - 14 June 2022
They pay minimum wage but they expect way above minimum work. It's very common to work late because they give you way too many things to do and not nearly enough time to do it. many responsibilities are placed on the cooks that are not placed on any of the other staff.

Tedious, could be better staffed , especially in the kitchen
Cook (Current Employee) - Wythenshawe - 27 May 2022
Understaffing can sap the energy of everyone around. As a cook, I recommend that the company focuses on staffing the kitchen appropriately, not using one or two persons to do the work of three persons.
Pros
Free lunches
Cons
Understaffing

Not a good place to work.
Cook (Former Employee) - Ashland, OH - 23 May 2022
They let you request days off three weeks in advance but that’s about all of the benefits. Managers are two-faced and are only worried about cutting labor. They expect loyalty and respect but refuse to make your work life enjoyable.

It's fast food, maybe not as fast as others.
Cook (Former Employee) - Neosho, MO - 29 April 2022
This was my first job so I didn't know what I was doing, I also have a bit of social anxiety so I didn't really stand up for myself. They had me clock out early so the supervising manager wouldn't get in trouble, so sometimes I would work an hour off the clock. The job hours were horrible, schedule was inconsistent one night I closed at 11pm then had to be back in the next morning to open at 7am. Also I got maybe 4 breaks in my 5 months there, the people weren't bad though.
Pros
Free lunch if you get a break, free drinks, and the occasional bit of free food.
Cons
May not get breaks, had to work off the clock, and inconsistent hours.

Jobs at KFC
Cook positionsGood Entry Level Job
Cook (Former Employee) - Springvale VIC - 17 March 2022
A job where the interview process is smooth, the training is smooth, the rosters are flexible, the pay is good, and the hours are mostly good. Only negative are some gossip, and stressful one stressful manager. Besides that, great first job.

Not really stressfull, they need to pay people to do closing.
Not really stressfull, they need to pay people to doclosing. Working KFC as a cashier I had a shift which some time I had to follow the shift that had been set for me. Working there I learn how to be patient with various of customers. tiring but know some friends over there so i think its good. Part time over there is fast-paced but still okay. you guys can have a try to work there with friends
Pros
Free lunch, free food
Cons
Unpaid closing

Fun place to work
Cook (Former Employee) - Port Orange, FL - 26 February 2022
Fun job, fast pace, great team work, the pay could be better and better benefits. Due to covid short handed sometimes and inpatient customers, overall not to bad for a minimum wage job.
Pros
Free food
Cons
Short breaks

Productive and fun workplace
cooker (Former Employee) - KwaDukuza, KwaZulu-Natal - 20 February 2022
There's no balance in work and salary. The company is not capable of workers safety special after work, for example is you working the late shifts, you have to see yourself what will take you home safe.
Pros
You pay for lunch

It's a team effort
KFC cook (Current Employee) - Cape Coral, FL - 16 February 2022
I'm new with KFC and I wanted part-time hours night shift but settled for rotating days nights different stores to make 40 hours a week the work overall is fairly easy we'll see if they compensate for loyalty

Stressful and difficult
Working at the kitchen as a cook is really hard and tough job. The job is stressful, fast paced and you have too many responsibilities for such a low salary. Being a cook is the hardest job you can get at KFC. You gotta prepare all that chicken which isn't fun, you need to take care of the locker and freezer, taking care of FIFO, in the meantime you gotta clean everything. If you have a choice, go and be a cashier or be at the service. Be prepared to experience a lot of physical and mental pain while working there.
Pros
none
Cons
stressful, difficult, paycheck is a joke
