Customer focused hands on operation

Spent 5 years as a manager with Lidl. The job was never boring and days were long but time passed very quickly. The job was straight forward and the lidl systems were easy to follow and implement. Staff recruitment was difficult at times and the staff turnover was quite high as was staff absenteeism. The salary was good and morale was good amongst staff and management as you were working with small teams. On the negative side , experienced managers had to put up with 2 to 3 visits a week from very inexperienced area managers some of whom had never stepped foot in a retail store prior to joining Lidl. Some of these area managers would make demands and to do lists which couldn't have been done with 20 staff never mind 5 staff . Apart from some of the area managers it was a good experience.

Inexperienced area managers with no concept of how to help and motivate staff and management.

No place like lidl

They have on walls trust respect recognition etc as it is what you wont get Horrible place to work management from above store absolutely terrible on acasions wont even say hi to workers You are just a number pay seens to be good but its all "blood and sweat"But its a good bus stop

Great job satisfaction.

Work hard and get well paid. excellent benefits and training provided. Lots of opportunities to progress if you put in the work and are flexible. You will work very hard here.

Great Place to work

Fantastic opportunities for staff. Excellent training and internal progression. Treat all staff very well and great overall culture in the organisation.

Exposure to alot and work extremely hard

Culture is very productivity focused which goes beyond a high performing team. Those that are high performers are the bench mark for the average rather than seen as an over achiever. High customer service and high productivity also do not go together. Career progression and advancement is definitely a huge part of Lidl and any employee who is Career hungry and wants to progress can easily do so. A lot of training is provided however embedment of training could be improved. Salary and benefits are exemplary and employees are well taken care of in that respect. Hardest part of the job was dealing with senior managers who were not personable. Most enjoyable part was seeing employees achieve their goals.
