The most useful review selected by IndeedStressful but good place to work. Pay is good, learn a lot working here, day goes fast, always kept busy. Variety of shifts have to be flexible. Looks good on cv

Very toxic work environment that begins from management
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Dungarvan, County Waterford - 11 May 2022
I would strongly advise to avoid unless no other opportunities are available. Wages on paper are OK but hours can and often do drop below equivalent unemployment benefit so you have to save when hrs are good. Training is non existent your basically expected to learn by yourself on the fly. Management are by far the worst I've experienced in my 40yrs highly unprofessional and create a toxic bullying environment

Super repetitive
Sales Assistant (Current Employee) - Dundrum, County Dublin - 12 April 2022
You're expected to work on a till for up to 10 hours straight a day. No rotation between till and floor. Pay is great but only a robot is suitable for this job. Wouldn't recommend

Terrible management
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Waterford city, County Waterford - 23 February 2022
Company filled with nepotism with extremely unrealistic expectations from the workers. The pay is good for retail, but the hours are low especialy if you are not good with the countless mini klans among workers. The customers are always rude so are the managers. Overall a toxic environment. Would not reccomend unless you have no other choice.
Pros
Pay per hour
Cons
Literaly everything else

Intense and long hours
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Dublin - 9 January 2022
Not for the faint hearted, early morning starts, very long hours and you're gonna be getting a phone call on your day off to come in or help another store. Play ball with them and you could potentially be rewarded but you will have to stick with the company for a long time til you see any benefits.
Pros
Best paying retailer
Cons
Long hours, never a weekend off, sometimes work 9-13 days in a row

Probably the worst company I have worked for
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Donegal, County Donegal - 26 August 2021
I have came from many retail jobs into my role in Lidl and it was honestly the worst week that I had working. Management were unfriendly and the staff were mostly cold and unwelcoming. I had to suffer harassment and was forced to cover shifts I politely declined multiple times as I was happy enough just doing my 20hrs, only to be told “that’s not how it works here” after I said I wasn’t happy to cover the shifts. All in all, awful company, low morale, overworked staff, pay is alright but they deliberately hire less staff so they can squeeze everything out of a smaller team which leads to long hours and too much pressure. Stay away.
Pros
The money is okay but when you take all the things you have to suffer it’s not really that great.
Cons
Long hours, low morale, stressful situations to be in whether it’s with customers or with staff.

Beneficial and good workplace
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Clane, County Kildare - 5 February 2020
A typical shift would be 6 - 8 hrs. I was trained on the tills, bakery and stocking shelves. I learned alot from my experience in Lidl and the main one is interacting and dealing with refunds, complaints and getting better on the till. The hardest part of the job was when all the tills are open and all the tills are busy.

Nice place to work
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Glenageary, County Dublin - 26 March 2018
Timings are bit odd which doesn't suit me well. Secondly, it's very far from where I lived. Other than that every thing was alright. Lot of opportunities of carers progress ion into Lidl.

Hard Work and
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Cork - 4 October 2016
A challenging job in retail due as you do quite a bit of everything from operating checkouts to stocking shelves and to be done within certain speeds but I learned a lot about the importance of teamwork and communication throughout my time.Enjoyed working there, learned a lot of new skills.I learned a lot working in Lidl as they train you on all aspects of the store including cash handling, baking, cleaning, stock take, inventory , dealing with customers and working as a member of a driven team. Its time to move.
Unfortunately often got phone calls from management to come to work on days off every week and if I had other plans and refused hours would be cut the week after to advance in this company, often had no breaks in a shift this including a 12 hour shift. No time for private live.!!
Lidl breach Health and Safety Regulation regarding to employee and his/her ergonomic friendly place to work.
Pros
Good Salary Pension Plan Medical Insurance
Cons
No Life Balance
