Productive and great place to start and learn.

Indeed featured review

A great place to start off your career is a Food manufacturing/processing company. But lack professionalism and limited staff to provide training. HR is poor in responding with the right information.

Pros

People are helpful

Cons

non irish people, no benefits, putting your mental and physical health at risk.

Thank you for your review - we're pleased that you think we're a great place to start your food career here at Lir. We'd love to discuss your concerns regarding training and HR - please do feel free to reach out to help us improve!

Bad work place

fast paced as have targets to reach. Workers (98% are Eastern European speaking) don’t want to know you if you don’t speak their language so can be very isolating. Expect to be talked about!

Pros

Off Friday-Sunday

Cons

Repetitive

We're sorry to hear that you have had a negative experience at Lir. We appreciate your feedback.

Very much a head down job and get your work done

Pay is minimum. Very little irish work here, and supervisor's tend to tell the irish not to be talking, its like being back at school but yet its okay for all of the non irish to chat away all day amongst themselves and with supervisor. Thats a bit unfair i think.

Pros

Finish at 2.30pm if your on day shift in packing.

Cons

No atmosphere. Non irish trying to out do the irish, like their going to take over the factory.

Don't work here as bullying is the norm - Patronising Degrading little-making

The work is fine - its very repetitive and as I was training I was moved to a quicker line when I couldn't keep up I was bought into an office and screamed at to the point of tears a foreigner in broken English asked me "can you no count" I think she meant can you not count! Yes I can count! When I left the office in floods of tears the rest of the foreigners were laughing at the telling off I got. I am a lady in my mid 30's and have never experience a workplace environment like it - needless to say I since have found a nice job surrounded by nice people.PatronisingDegradinglittle-making

It's OK to work here! Hours are good, pay is minimum

Boring, repetitive job for 10 hour shift. Sometimes you have to be really fast working on the line, depending where line leader puts you working. New seasonal staff usually are put on messy and worst positions. Working hours are 6:00am till 4:30pm, 2 half an hour breaks, Monday to Thursday, weekends off, sometimes they ask to work overtime on Fridays!

Would not reccomend it

Worked here for 6 weeks and I would suggest not working here. hours were 6am - 4:30pm and pay was decent which was great but the working environment was horrendous. Mostly employ Eastern European which is fine but my colleagues went out of their way to ignore me, very cold and rude. I was shouted at numerous times when I had questions, 'language barrier' with the floor staff but the line leaders, supervisors, Manager and HR were very nice. They have the highest turnover rate I have ever experienced, they chop and change staff and discard them like rubbish. If you want a month or 2 of great pay but soul destroying work I would suggest going for it.

Not bad overall

Learned planning and management of a big staff group. Typical day at work included organising jobs my shift had to complete in their working hours. If any issues or problems happen, I had to make the right decision in order to keep productivity of staff to a great standard.

Busy Workplace

A typical day would be start at 3 and go on the Packing line. you are on the line the whole night until 1.30am. its was a very tiring and repetitive job.

Pros

Cons

Hard-working, productive work place

A typical day at work was clocking in, and proceeding to one of the lines you were working, usually where the line leader is. Shortly, you find out what product the team is packing, everyone is assigned positions and work begins. I learned a lot about teamwork and communication as well as responsibility of being assigned a job. The hardest part of the job was if the product was being worked on for the whole day, towards the end of the shift it would become very tedious. The most enjoyable part was definitely going home.

Pros

Friday to Sunday off

Cons

Long hours

Productive and fun workplace

Working in the packaging department of a premium chocolate manufacture. It was fun working in production, interesting place to work with people with different grounds and skill levels

Bad working conditions

I worked with some very rude and unfriendly people that speak very little English. It was difficult for me for the first few weeks as I had awful back pain from standing for around 2 hours without a break. When I moved to the production unit I rarely had much to do so the hours were long and boring.

Pros

Fair salary

Cons

Rude people, bad working conditions and long boring hours
