Working for the Marriott gave me a customer service training experience that I will always hold dear. The people working at the front desk were always happy and fun. I worked in the concierge and it was a very nice job. They paid well, the benefits were great, they feed you. The problem was time off, you always had to fight for it. Also they clearly were only looking out for themselves and saving the company and that was very clear. If you had a problem they listened like they cared but (unlike with the guests) nothing was ever done to fix the problems. Also your coworkers always shamed you for your breaks as most people were expected to work through breaks and lunches. When COVID hit they sent a majority of there employees on unpaid furlough so that’s the kind of company they are now. Mr. Marriott cared for his workers but Marriott int only cares about the bottom line.
Good health care, free lunch
No breaks, always standing, constant secret shoppers, cameras watching your every move
A lot of drama between the housekeepers since they are under a union. Workplace culture was pretty nice depending on who you worked with. A lot of the Execs weren't too friendly most of the time. Free lunches, but you have to pay every month for parking in the parking garage.
Culture is a vibe, meeting new guests and return travelers, anticipating their needs to leave them feeling recognized and wanted at the property, prompting great professional relationships with all guests.
Work schedule all over the place. You could be asked to work 11p-7a and then have to be back at 2 or 3p for next shift. No work life balance. You can request a day off months in advance, but no guarantee until you see schedule you will get time off. No proper training. They make you watch hours of videos during your first few weeks that don't really train you properly. Guests come before employeesGubbeforemployees
Discounts at other hotels when available
Last minute mandatory overtime, they don't believe in at least 10 hours between shifts. You get written up for every little thing, even if it wasn't your fault
very competitive and fun . hard work gets notice . The culture and hoilday parties are out the box . It is a lot of work and can be challenging at times but sure is a great place .
rewards, can be let go early, extra over time .
having to stay past schedule time, covering someone elses work .
Work environment allows all associates the opportunity to apply their skill and attributes toward outstanding business strategy and service delivery. Strategic organization and direct to customer/team member impact are the more enjoyable parts of the job. The most challenging parts of the job are balancing the aggressive service and revenue goals with the needs and realities of product resources and stakeholder/market expectations.
Flexible schedules, Dynamic environment
every department is treated differently than other departments (stricter in front office) than anywhere else. work life balance is nonexistent. more like no life. working conditions are bad, no air circulation for the office, practically breathing in fumes.
work life balance/quality of workplace
The property was crazy busy, but the employees wer amazing. I loved interacting with people from all around the world. Work seemed to be less monotonaous when travelers from all over would come and share their experiences and stories. Great place to work overall.
Free Lunches, good benefits
short breaks, no parking
Great workplace, Great team work, good place to interact with multiples cultures great leadership, a very organized to work, perfect place to develop your skill and grow like a cook, easy going place to learn, working here motivated me to follow my dream has a cook.
I enjoyed working at Marriott for the weekends. This was a good experience and liked how I grew in knowledge different from teaching.
I had so much fun working at Marriott International, Inc. It was always busy which made me more productive and there was always something to do. I learned so much about food service, restaurants, bars and snack bars. My managers were very supportive and co-workers were always fun to work with. The most enjoyable part was you got to eat for free which saved me a lot of money for food. the hardest part was when the work place was not safe to work any longer.
i got a chanced to eat free food
healthcare was a bit expensive
