Hard work but decent managers
Crew Member (Former Employee) - Dublin, County Dublin - 21 June 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThe work is hard but rarely stressful . Managers will usually take your side if a customer is being unreasonable.Breaks aren’t paid but you do get a food allowance .Perfect for a college student who needs flexibility as they are for the main part due to their large workers base.Pay varies from store to store so make sure you look into this before applying .Its a job with varied responsibilities which is great for training .Best of luck

I’m on anti depression medication
McDonalds Crew Member (Current Employee) - Ashbourne, County Meath - 30 June 2022
They brought in more inexperienced staff when we just needed more good, experienced staff. I felt guilt tripped in taking more hours and over praised into staying
Pros
free lunch under a tenner
Cons
customer called me a slur. I’m autistic, do the maths.

You make a lot of new friends, great starting job, but not a stable job, at least for me
Crew Member (Current Employee) - Headford, County Galway - 16 June 2022
You make a lot of friends, as many people come and go. There are many stations so you don't really get bored, my managers were very chill and good at their job
Pros
Free lunch, but very limited in my opinion
Cons
Shifts are very random, hours could be cut which lead to an unlivable wage

Productive and fun work environment
McDonalds Crew Member (Former Employee) - Athlone, County Westmeath - 26 May 2022
Overall it was a great place to work, made great friends there. You will do well if you're a hard worker and a team worker, but will bring the team down as a whole if you're not . Good training involved for a first time job. Hours can be unpredictable and not the best if your a student.
Pros
Free lunches, transportation, employee discount, friendly staff
Cons
Long hours, high staff turnover

Not paid enough for how demanding it is
Crew Member (Current Employee) - Limerick, County Limerick - 23 May 2022
Good job, free lunch at your break, friendly atmosphere. Fair progression opportunities. Tiring work though, and considering it is a multinational company, minimum wage is quite low for the amount of work you do.
Pros
Free lunch, they are flexible with you
Cons
Tiring work for low pay, disorganised at times

Great first job
Crew Member (Former Employee) - Galway, County Galway - 22 May 2022
It is a great first job to have while studying in college. I worked only on weekends when I did not have classes. There will be rush hours with long queues but there will also be quiet times with almost no clients.
Pros
Free lunch
Cons
Minimum pay, rude customers

Fast paced
Crew Member (Former Employee) - Dublin Airport, County Dublin - 18 May 2022
It’s a good job for young people and students, the staff were mostly friendly . Management was okay, not paid enough for the amount of work you’re expected to do, very fast paced and stressful job but at times enjoyable especially when the customers and management recognised the hard work.
Pros
Free lunch, friendly staff
Cons
Rude customers, minimum pay

The coworkers even the managers are always in a bad mood because of the stress. You have to deal with the customers, stress and coworkers.
Crew Member (Former Employee) - City Centre Dublin, County Dublin - 10 May 2022
Pros. Food allowance, flexible schedule and discount in every McDonald's around Dublin Cons. Too stressful for a low payment. Coworkers and managers always in a bad mood

Good job for start life. Nice people and you do everything there. Make food, cleaner, customer service, cash, prepare orders… everything. If you full time you receive good hours

Fast paced environment. Everyone was happy. Lots of helpful staff. Good pay and the manager was sound enough to all the employees. Not a long term job. Hours can vary

Teamwork is fundamental
Shift Manager (Former Employee) - Dublin, County Dublin - 27 April 2022
As long as everyone was on the same boat everything work smoothly. All and all, it was always a matter of 1 or 2 straight cats not pulling themselfes, being just crew or even managment.
Pros
Free lunch, flexible shifts.
Cons
Generics hospitality industry issues.

Mcdonalds
McDonalds Crew Trainer (Current Employee) - Ireland - 27 March 2022
Not paid fairly for the amount of work that is done managers expect too much from one person it's impossible you are expected to drop everything your doing and put the company first and several hours without breaks

Constant work
All rounder (Current Employee) - County Wexford - 15 March 2022
Breaks always given on time, however bad pay for under 18s (€9 an hour compared to €11 for over 18s). Bad hours at the start (mainly 12-8 / 1-9), and can be working late (until 11-12 pm).

A job for night owls
Crew Member (Current Employee) - Cashel, County Tipperary - 13 March 2022
Job is decent? Like it's easy enough for the pay and you get free lunch but you could have the weirdest hours. Could be on till 1/2am one night then back in for 12pm the next day. Some customers are unbearable. Say they're flexible but they make you set yourself to fully available? 48 hours? I have worked 11 days in a row just to get 2 days off. Would be better if the scheduling was better.
Pros
Free lunch and employee discount.
Cons
Weird hours, customers
