My time at MSD was a pleasure. They are a very well developed company who while expecting a lot from their employees, reward them well. The management are very helpful, especially to interns and new staff.
Pros
Good pay
Cons
Long hours

Great place to work if you are out to learn and self learn fast, not suited to those who need time to settle in or be trained into the job.
Expectancy by all managment is for employees to tackle into all types of workload even outside their job description and vey little support is given by management.

Its about time the culture of MSD changes and the company adopts modern work practices, work hours are long and there is an over dependence to be present on site rather that work remotely - little focus on worklife balances

Senior Technician, QC Bioassay (Former Employee) - Cork, Ireland
There was a friendly atmosphere from day 01. It was possible to learn and gain experience/skills from some of the most knowledgeable scientific minds in Cork.
All teams worked for a common goal, to achieve milestones and celebrate them together.

The work-life balance was there to see all the time. Team building days were encouraged and expected. Christmas parties were well attended.

Cross-training was widespread across the site so skills were widely transferable and training was constantly supplied.

Requests for training items were always granted. Training on lean manufacturing, 6-sigma, Trackwise was constantly encouraged and well executed.
Pros
training, atmosphere, knowledge, experience gained
Cons
long hours, under-staffed at times, communication from upper management could have been better
