Decent Job Stressful for Money
Cashier (Former Employee) –  Dublin24 September 2019
Some parts of the job are good but for the stress it's not worth the money. Shop managers can be helpful but sometimes it's too busy to help other times your so bored.

Retail Betting Assistant (Former Employee) –  Dublin16 September 2019
Most of the staff were great. Not great hours.. never get weekends off unless you request it so you can't plan anything. Very poor work life balance. Management only look after themselves.

Amazing support from management and helping mentors. A superb place to work at! Too many projects simultaneously taken up was a tough task to handle but good management helped the projects through.
Pros
Good cafeteria, good systems, late night cabs and friday beers and pizza
Cons
could overwork occasionally but the teams are good and they will help you out

Worst jobs I've ever worked in
Betting assistant (Former Employee) –  Dublin2 October 2018
I've worked in PP for over a year now and I can say it's easily one of the most mundane, boring mind-numbing experiences I've ever had. the hours scene flexible in theory but in reality you can never really do anything around them. The pay seems ok but it never seems to be a chance to go up in wages and she completed your basic courses. If you're really stuck for a job go ahead but every day you come home mentally drained. It's also morally difficult because most your customers are old people and are gamblers and your instructed never really to say no regardless of the state their in, how much they've spent and how bad their losses are. Your regulars are just addicts looking for another win and would scam you without a second thought.
Pros
Weekly Pay
Cons
Mentally draining, horrible uniforms, dealing with irrational customers, incredibly mundane

Pros
christmas bonus

Horrible work environment
Analyst (Former Employee) –  Dublin28 May 2018
Since the merger between Paddy Power and Betfair, the culture that has emerged is horrible. People are only seen as resources and there is no investment in them anymore. The workload is punishing. Decisions are made by upper management with no engagement with those actually doing the work or speaking to the customers. There is no work/life balance and all the talent is leaving the company.
Pros
Subsidised canteen
Cons
Everything else

Good Place to work
Customer Service Agent (Current Employee) –  Dublin23 May 2018
It is a good place to work. But you will have to work long hours, most times at night and weekends. And the pay is not enough.
You will need to answer customers in a polite manner.
Pros
Free Pizza every last Friday
Cons
Long hours, not enough pay

Fun, exciting but at times lacked soul
Exchange Operator (Former Employee) –  Dublin, Ireland29 November 2017
There is a big effort to put emphasis on a 'start up' culture within the company. Slogans such as 'Relentless Will to Win' were common. While this contributed to a fun, exciting atmosphere to work in, at times it came across as quite shallow. There was some license to innovate and pitch new ideas but only if you could be sure there was a surefire efficiency or profit to be gained from doing so.

Retail Betting Assistant (RBA) (Current Employee) –  Dublin5 September 2017
Paddy Power is a great place to work if you are looking to improve your retail skills, mathematical skills and communication skills. It is a very fast paced environment with many obstacles that may you need to be able to overcome. Working with Paddy Power has thought me to be better able to deal with difficult situations and that no matter the problem there is always a way to resolve it and make the customer happy.

Great place to work if you fit the culture
Manager (Current Employee) –  Dublin25 May 2017
With aggressive culture and high pressure to perform, this is not the company for the faint of heart. Very fast paced, and a true meritocracy. Great place to learn digital early in your career.

Great People, innovative, fast moving
Promotions Manager (Current Employee) –  Dublin6 May 2017
The best thing about PPB is the people who work there. The workforce is young, dynamic, innovative and hungry to succeed. The work is interesting and, for the most part, the people who work the hardest rise the fastest. Management, for the most part, are very good and the atmosphere is quite informal.
Pros
The people, the opportunities
Cons
Money is OK but not great

Not what it used to be
IT Support (Former Employee) –  Dublin24 April 2017
Started as a dynamic and fun working environment and employees were given freedom to be creative. As with all companies eventually driven by Shareholders, profit became more important than staff.
Cost cutting led to less technology investment and loss of good staff. Sadly it became very bureaucratic and lost its appeal, the merger (takeover) by Betfair solidified the changes.
Great while it lasted though.
