Unrealistic goals set by head office
Shop Assistant (Former Employee) –  Dublin3 January 2020
The job itself is not very stressful, the usual retail tasks like stocking shelve, cleaning the shop and toilets etc. The management is very poor, rosters are made a week in advance, constantly being asked to cover other people shifts. Holidays are unnecessarily hard to apply for and reset at the end of the year. Head office takes every opportunity to deduct money from the already minimum wage. Head office will come in and complain about anything and everything.

Avoid at all costs
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) –  Dublin25 July 2019
The ownership is not satisfied with forcing you to do degrading work like cleaning human fecal matter, they will also figure out ways to deduct from your minimum wage with obligatory uniform rental - somewhere around 200 euros per year for 2 shirts and a jacket.
Asked to work shifts with less than 11 hours between them (illegal), no bonus on Sunday work (illegal).

Unsurprisingly the shop staff change very fast. After I started, almost everyone was gone within a few months. Only the laziest and most incompetent stick around here.

Amazing job.
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) –  Amiens Street, Dublin 13 January 2015
They treat employees like grown-ups. They share information with employees, listen to their ideas (or better yet, actively seek out and act upon their ideas) and assume they are responsible enough to manage their own time. Also, they treat people fairly. They pay people decently and give them good benefits, including not only decent healthcare but other even rarer essentials, like paid parental leave. And they use lay-offs as a last resort
Pros
free coffee and parking
Cons
night shifts
