Good Pay but must be willing work alot

Indeed featured review

Not a bad job to have. You get paid well for the work you do. I have no complaints other than the work/life balance and maybe the days off. Just have to be willing to work so much. Paychecks will look nice, but you’ll also feel tired, stressed, and feel like you have no life outside of work.

Pros

Good pay

Cons

Hard work. Good pay.

Its a great job. But you will hate it at first. You start as an extra which forces you to be on sick call even if you already worked 5 days. Money is better than the other companies and you get a raise every 6 months . You have to clean up other peoples mistakes all the time until you get your own route. The hardest part is pulling pallets with defective pallet jacks all day long. Pepsi is the only beverage company to use chep pallets which are heavier and harder to pull. Expect to make 40k-50k+ depending on OT.

Pros

Good pay

Cons

Long hours and a LOT of physical work.

Middle managment is a revolving door. They do not want Merch managment to get close enough to anyone on the merch staff to care at all about how they are treated. Pepsi does not provide PPE regularly. Even though its frontline is amongst the public for 10 to 12 hours a day normally.

Definitely the pay. Benefits are good also.

The pay is good but your gonna work for it. 12hr days or more everyday. Lots of decent guys and gals work there. Lots of room for advancement. Teamsters union. Benefits are superior. If you wanna get and have a career, I highly recommend this place.

Pros

The pay. The incentives

Great company to work for without a degree

Merchandising is a very physically demanding job and as such we are compensated well for it with a pay raise every 6 months. Union job with great health benefits. We usually work alone and therefore must be very responsible, diligent and conscious of our time. Depending on the person working alone can be easy or difficult depending on experience. Personally I felt i learned the job quickly but 1 year in I know there are ways to be more efficient. This is the hard part of being a merchandiser is managing your time, working alone, supervising yourself in a way.

Pros

Good starting pay with regular increases, car mileage reimbursed, regular overtime.

Cons

Physically demanding, can be stressful during holidays and peak season especially for new hires.

merchandiser

I worked for Pepsi in San Diego. you will be working 6 days a week and 1 of your days off you will be on call. they will call you pretty much every time and if they don't you won't get paid for waiting. also you won't know your 1 day off until the Friday before. if you can deal with the schedule the job it self is ok.

Union work

Union facility, you are paid the same if you're a hard worker or the laziest person around. Pay is nowhere near the rate of LA or Riverside. The pension the union has pays out so little you'll never be able to live in Southern California without getting another job to supplement your income.

Typical day at work is, start at 4:30 am Get to the warehouse do a full inspection on my truck and head to my route. Hardest part of my jod is the time limit to get to my store, they have a time frame.

Caution: Challenging Work Ahead

The beverage industry is surprisingly competitive, and working at PBC is no exception. All departments are fully focused on attaining top market share; which, requires many hours to meet challenging demands. Not for the faint of heart.

Pros

Many opportunities for upward mobility.

Cons

Work life balance will be impacted.

Very competitive environment

Pepsi has good benefits but can be more competitive as far as pay. They offer in depth training on a lot of jobs and follow through on inquiries on different subjects.

Its ok, could be worse

The office was ran poorly and the opportunity for advancement relied more upon personal relationships rather than work ethic. This alone is the reason i am looking elsewhere.

Normally high stress environment with management concerned with budget goals and sales Product is the goal for Pepsi and sales is everything. The personnel doing the job do not matter. They are only interested in their goals, even if it is not feasible. They constantly change management, rehashing old problems over and over.

One of the best places to be

Work is great love the morning hours , you can start at 3am yo 5am and be off work by 2 or 3pm. The people are nice and great to work with. They need to stick with experienced management and hire within. Cause sometimes they hire people out of college and we're treated like just numbers on paper

Pros

Paid mileage, health care benifits

Cons

Lots of physical work

Summary Review

The work place at Pepsi was very cut-throat and highly stressed. There was no room for growth or advancement in the industry unless your seniority dictated your hours of operation getting to the day-shift or the more comfortable jobs. The pay was fair, but the hours were not my favorite because we sometimes, more than normal worked 16 hours a day Monday-Friday and occasional Saturday's based on seniority.

Pros

guaranteed paycheck weekly

Cons

Bad management, bad employees who werent team players, low moral, Extremely High Stress

Safety first. But, not really.

Long days, lots of hours and OT. Management is a joke. You need to be the number run thrower day in and day out. Dont ask questions keep your head down, work. Positives, you make a little more money than other jobs. Negatives: no time, exhausted, forced OT, etc on and on
