Horrible management/complete disregard for employees
QUALITY (Former Employee) –  Covington23 April 2019
This was a terrible place to work. Extremely high turnover rate due to firing good employees, or employees wising up to terrible management and leaving. There was a complete disregard for employees in work life and humanity. Benefits are good, the corporate ideals are good but this location is corrupt.
Pros
Pay benefits
Cons
Management and treatment of people

Lower your expectations.
Production Worker (Current Employee) –  Holland, MI21 April 2019
They know they are the highest paying manufacturing job around here so they treat employees terribly. Management doesn't care about anything but increasing numbers so they can get promoted. Long term problems or cultural issues will never get addressed. They just pass the blame or talk about fixing things for about a week and turn around and do the same thing.
Pros
Great pay
Cons
Terrible management

Chemist II (Former Employee) –  Covington, OH19 April 2019
They treat employee very badly. They are very happy to keep on hiring people to get ready to fire tomorrow. They have no humanity in them at all. I don't even know how I survived there for 2 years.

Great pay, grueling schedule.
Packaging Operator (Current Employee) –  Milton, VT18 April 2019
The pay makes the 12 hour shifts worth it - to a degree. Miscommunication of expectations and scheduling make it difficult at times, but it's a very good job.
Pros
Every other week, scheduled overtime is included in your check.

Perrigo
Pharmaceutical Packaging Specialist (Former Employee) –  Allegan, MI12 April 2019
Perrigo was a stepping block for me. I worked the 3rd shift. It fit well with my schedule for that time in my life. I was raising two children and attending classes in the evening. The hardest part of my job was the routine, it was a daily repetition of the same performance functions.

it was a nice place to work at until they relaxed their hiring criterium. once they allowed all manner of thugs to apply the business declined. And the business was sold.

Good if you have a college degree
Packaging Specialist (Current Employee) –  Allegan, MI10 April 2019
If you have a college degree this is the place to work. I am reviewing Perrigo Allegan.

However, if you do not have a college degree and get stuck working operations (Manufacturing/Packaging) you will most likely be miserable. Most of the positive reviews this company has received are most likely from those whom have worked at Perrigo for 10+ years or work in an office/management position.

Perrigo's motto is quality of life, quality of work. This is only true if you do NOT work operations. If you work in operations do not plan to get your days off from the weekends. Most of Perrigo in Allegan is doing mandatory weekend overtime. Meaning, you will be working every other weekend. This isn't bad when they only do this on occasions. However, in some departments it's going on 2+ years of nonstop you get 4 days off a month. Instead of improving this for employee's, they change their transfer policies for operation personnel to make it harder for you to switch to a slower department. Not too long ago they also changed their weekend write up policy. You used to be able to call in on weekend (Both Saturday and Sunday) and get 1 write up separated from your weekday absence hours attendance write ups. However, operation personnel were using this due to the high mandating rate to their advantage. So Perrigo once again "Made our lives better at work" by changing the write up policy. Now weekend call-in go toward your straight absence hours. You also cannot use paid time off for weekend days.

For the departments that do not mandate every weekend... plan some of your weekend plans
more... messed up because they will mandate you for no reason and randomly. (I've never seen a company willing to pay someone $40 an hour to stand around because their inventory system goes down and you're not allowed to do anything.)

Perrigo's Paid Time Off(PTO) is kind of a joke. Perrigo will do everything in their power to make you exhaust your PTO. Perrigo states that they give you 3 weeks of vacation for new hires. What they don't tell you is that you earn your 3 weeks of vacation at a rate of 2.31 hours per week. (For new hires) Perrigo changed their policies about 5 years ago with PTO, Absence hours, and unpaid excused time off. Employee's used to receive 40 hours of PTO plus weekly accumulation, 40 hours of absence time, and 40 hours of unpaid excused time off. However, they got rid of this system and banked everything into 1. Now employee's receive 24.1 hours of absence time before a level 1 write up occurs. Then another 24.1 hours for a level 2 to occur. Then 16.1 hours for a level 3 followed with a 2 day suspension. Then another 16.1 hours before a level 4 and you beg for your job. Older employee's are grandfathered into the PTO system to receive higher weekly PTO rates. So there are currently 2 sets of PTO hours going on.

For example:
Current new hires PTO rates years 1-5 earn 2.31 hours per week.
Grandfathered in employee's 1-5 earn 2.7 hours per week.

Current new hires PTO rates years 5-12 earn 3.08 hours per week.
Grandfather in employee's 5-12 ears 3.54 hours per week.

Current new hires PTO rates years 12-18 earn 3.8 hours per week.
Grandfather in employee's 12-18 earn 4.3 hours per week.

Perrigo is the pharmaceutical company that tries to operation on the Pfizer level of things. However, Perrigo is much smaller and does it way worse than Pfizer. If you want to work at a pharmaceutical company as operations go to Pfizer. They do things much better.

Work Day
Bottling Specialist (Current Employee) –  Allegan, MI3 April 2019
Most of the work day is busy work with changeovers on the machines. Management at Perrigo is in my opinion is great. They are always walking around on the floor connecting with the people on the off shifts.Hsrdest part of the day is waiting on machines to be changed over. Best part of the day is when we have productive nights where we do better than our goal

Good money, great benefits, but the employees get treated like dirt. Bonuses are supposed to be "good", but I hadn't seen a good one the whole 4 years I was there. NEVER GO TO HR. YOU WILL END UP BEING THE BAD ONE AND LOSE YOUR JOB!!
Pros

Employees sleep on the line, bonuses are shady, more worried about quantity not quality..

Broken
Tablet manufacturing (Current Employee) –  Allegan, MI24 March 2019
This place has broke my selfesteam and confidence. They tell you one thing the turn around and do the opposite. You make one tiny mistake and then be honest about it you still get reprimanded for it. If you go to HR for anything, there will be a giant target on your back and they will find a way to write you up and get you closer to getting fired. Overall to stressful even for the good pay.

Cons
Supervisors, managment, coworkers, lack of personal belonging, and the belittling of anything you do wrong.

SQM Coordinator (Current Employee) –  Minneapolis, MN21 March 2019
The job requires very little creativity and outside the box ideas are not rewarded or encouraged. There is little to no opportunity for advancement absent of an advanced degree in chemistry, regardless of demonstrated acumen in other areas.

Quality Technician (Former Employee) –  Allegan, MI28 February 2019
Great job security, pay/benefits but seniority is weighed far too heavily when promotion decisions are made, leading to less-than-cohesive employee manager relationships. I saw this numerous times. It seems taking a twelve year veteran with 0 people skills is more ideal to Perrigo than a six year veteran that is more personable. If not for the poor management in my department I would probably be still working there.
