Smyths Toys was established in 1987 in Galway, West of Ireland. We are a rapidly expanding retail company, one of the 200 biggest companies in Ireland and the largest Toy Retailer in Europe. We execute a multi-million-euro annual buying portfolio, use cutting-edge IT systems and employ over 5,000 people at peak trading times.

We also have big and exciting expansion ambitions. In 2018 we acquired Toys R Us in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, adding a further 90 stores across central European. This brings our total number of stores across Ireland, the UK and Europe to over 200.

We all work together across a relatively flat organisational structure. Right from the get-go, you’ll work around senior, experienced people, up to and including our Managing Directors. We have a great informal work environment.

There’s never been a better or more exciting time to join Smyths Toys.

Great seasonal job

Great place to work, Job security not the best after Christmas as sales slow down drastically. Good management and flexibility with hours. Meet great staff members and easy to get along with everyone.

Terrible and underappreciated I would not recommend this Job at all , the mangers are disrespectful and if your not in the clique they don't like you nor respect you

Retail Assistant in Tralee, County Kerry

horrible work enviroment

terrible place to work wouldn't recommend it to a did, they treat their staff like their disposable and make you feel bad for not pulling extra shifts

Duty Manager in Blanchardstown, County Dublin
on 9 September 2022
Fast paced, stressful Retail environment

Your whole experience will heavily depend on what store you get. Very high paced, lots of work to do, lots of merchandising and product knowledge required. Management will either make or breAk you. In my case I had a bad manager, who undermined me and was a source of stress the moment I entered the store.
