Manager in Newbridge, County Kildare
on 3 October 2022
Overworked with no communication.
Whilst working in this environment I never had a work life balance. You’re expected to work crazy hours outside of your scheduled shifts. Any hours worked over your contract is unpaid and not even returned in lieu. If you need to leave early for emergency reasons they have no problem docking your pay (even if you work stayed back extra hours on a different day). There was never communication between all managers. Store manager was a great help when around, but unfortunately was always taken to help different stores.

Productive but Drags
Great place to work, staff are friendly and you can have plenty of fun whilst working. However Management can be rude whenever put under a bit of stress with people Leaving etc.

Fun Workplace when things are going well
Although for the most part I loved working in Sports Direct there are definitely some cons to working there Staff are all young and very friendly and I’ve made great friends there. 20% discount is also nice.It can be enjoyable to work there but there is often hassle with booked days off/holidays. Management often can be forgetful and try to hold things over your head if you make a mistake or can’t work and make you pay for it. When there is a visit by area manager or someone from head office. Management can often take their frustrations out on you and it’s not fair.
Retail Assistant in Dublin, County Dublin

Boring, not enjoyable, dreaded working
A typical day was standing at the till, and fixing clothes. The managers were rude, even to customers. The environment was dull, no one seemed to like the job at all. They would keep you there after hours even though you were supposed to be finished.
