Avoid at all costs
Manufacturing Team Member (Former Employee) –  Orthopedics9 January 2020
Horrible culture, management haven't got a clue. B*tching, back biting, bullying are part of the establishment and no one takes any notice if reported. Horrible people working there. 80% of them look and behave like they belong in prison

Ineffective Meetings and Poor Pay
Supplier Quality Engineer (Former Employee) –  Cork14 March 2019
Multiple meetings in a day with no effective outcome. Lack of accountability from departments. 99% paper based, which is worrying from a document retention and retrieval perspective. No retention policy. Low pay but good bonus and good appreciation awards. No matter how much you work, it’s all about who you know. As a result, people tend to stay within their comfort zones because they don’t see the benefit of going above and beyond. Praise and appreciation from hard work is often taken at management level even though all the work is done by the team. Awful at offering promotions but good opportunity to move horizontally. Lots of exposure, resulting in experience and work that is above the average salary offered by other companies.
Pros
Good bonus and rewards, opportunity for horizontal progression.
Cons
Poor work life balance, inefficient meetings, poor management training, poor professional progression, expensive canteen, paper based, extremely slow recruitment process.

I got in at 9am and just done orders. I learned if you are not sure what to do ask someone that is. The management was always helpful and fast when dealing with problems correctly. Hardest part was stock take as there was so much to count so high up. Moat enjoyable was talking to everyone.

Peers are nice. Long hours without appropriate return.

Peers/engineers here are nice.

ROI poor: long hours without appropriate return.

Personnel management here could be better, with respect to development, advancement, mentoring and career planning.
Pros
Peers are nice.
Cons
long hours without appropriate return, personnel management here could be better

Great Staff, Varied work, Technically challenging
Design Engineer within Research and Development (Current Employee) –  Cork, Ireland8 August 2013
At Stryker people are generally given a project and sent on your way. A lot of new hires who have little experience learn the hard way how to navigate the working world. There is a lot expected of staff but this is a good thing as well as the responsibility is empowering and provides its own challenges.

Typically a lot of the job revolves around finding a balance between getting technical engineering work done and filling in the necessary paperwork required for a medical devices company.

The management style seems a bit outdated with a lot of emphasis put on the power of criticism
The other staff are generally supportive to each other and a good technically strong team has been built up here over the years.

The most difficult part of the job is maintaining a work life balance.

The most enjoyable part is seeing your designs and creations in the hands of surgeons and being able to get immediate feedback from them about how your products will save lives.
Pros
Travel to the US, Scope to try out new innovative designs.
Cons
Long hours, overtime expected of the staff. Management style is outdated.
