Terrible employer. AVOID!
Specialist Project Manager (Former Employee) – Tadcaster, UK – 10 April 2017
Easily the worst job I ever had.
The employer lied about career advancement opportunities (there were none) and pay reviews (again, none were available in 2 and a half years).
They expect you to be on call 7 days a week, at any time (yes, you could receive a phone call at 5am!) and provide zero training; they simply assign you a project and expect you to figure out absolutely everything with bare minimum information. Support was non-existent and management had no idea what was happening in the department. I suggested having a team meeting as a way of opening communication in the department as we hadn't had one in over a year(!) and was met with contempt.
Any attempts to bring in a uniform project management methodology were again looked upon as interfering, though each department worked against each other as they were all trying to follow individual ways of working.
Clients were frequently let down on timescales and quality of work and in 2 and a half years I spent roughly 40% of my time apologising for other people's mistakes and trying to placate clients.
A lesson to make sure you get everything in writing!
I would advise anyone to avoid this company like the plague as they treat staff incredibly poorly and are massively unprofessional.
