Great atmosphere and general culture in the workplace

Indeed featured review

Great culture, pay is minimum wage but the duties are not impossible so it's justifiable. Working hours are very flexible which is good, especially for a for a student. Overall, great place to work.

Productive

You get to interact with customer on the daily and if you're a people person you would really enjoy this job as you talk to people everyday. The atmosphere is nice and it is a good place to work at.

It's okay

Very basic training and after one session, expected to know everything and serve, doesn't seem to have standards for training. Can get very unsociable hours, not being able to do anything, expected to do closes which can be up to 3am can be even later. Usually under staffed, leads to pressure on staff. However, good for college as they're able to work around your schedule. Easy to get days off. Management, if they like you, you'll have no problems and enjoy your time in Vue. Other than that, can be daunting, not a rewarding workplace. Poor management.

Pros

Free tickets, discount on food, flexible around your schedule

Cons

No work-life balance

Total kip

Managers are rude, mean and quite unfair. Standards are extremely unrealistic due to the sheer amount of employee turn over rate. Pay is terrible especially if your under 20 and monthly. Movie premieres and free tickets along with 40%discount is okay.

Stressful

I worked at vue for about two months. It’s okay for a first job but the training is terrible. There is two days when you are supposed to be trained on the till and then you are on your own. I was put on the till by myself on the first week which was very stressful as the I found the till very confusing and complicated to learn. You also do not get a set break and you are told you can go “when it’s quiet” so on a busy day I would be working 6 hours before I got a break

This job puts you off living

I have so much to say (negatively) I don't want to waste too much time, management are like secondary school children, they literally bully the life out of you, I know you're probably excited to get your first job or maybe you always wanted to work in the cinema, but do yourself the favor wait a little longer and find somewhere else, I promise you there is better out there. this place will take it's toll on you

Its grand for students

Vue cinemas only caters to students, the hours are very minimal and they will try their absolute best to pay you as little as possible for the small hours you work. If you are in college this job is grand but if you are not you will have problems working for them. I'd recommend looking for something else if you're not in college.

Avoid

Awful place to be. Management are a joke and don't value customer assistants, unless they like you and you become part of their clique. Get 4-8 hours a week with low pay, way too much expected of you for the pay you get. Free tickets and discount are great but once they're taken off you as a punishment there is nothing redeeming about the place. Very low level of training provided, most people are thrown on tills by themselves for the first time. Only good thing about it was your colleagues, who suffered with you.

I hated it

Where do I start?! Though I have made some pretty cool friends the time I worked here but the hours are way too long, often forget to let you go for break, not paid enough, managers are lazy and huge bullies. Never in a million years would I reccomend working here. It's a joke of a company I was signed out with depression by the doctor

Pros

Free tickets

Cons

Managers and hours too long

An honest review of possibly the worst run establishment in Dublin

I worked at VUE in Liffey Valley, Dublin, for 2 years. It was the most miserable place to work and to date is still the worst establishment I have ever had to work for. It is a tough, fast paced, non rewarding job which is made worse by the very unprofessional and lazy management team that was and still is employed there. Aside from the lack of qualification that is present within this management team, there is a list of incidents and situations which would shock and baffle most people. In my time working there I had enough experience with the management team to be able to give a fair assessment of them. If I am to give an honest and fair review across the board then I could only describe members of management as unprofessional, arrogant, disrespectful, lazy, power hungry, unmotivated, lacking in leadership qualities and an ironic inability to take responsibility for mistakes along with a lack of practical problem solving. This job is tough, both physically and mentally, cleaning on a strict schedule and serving the general public is a job I would tell most to try for a few months and see if their opinion on the Retail sector has changed from their own experience. In VUE, understaffing was a constant issue that staff had no say in or control over. You were expected to work above and beyond your minimum wage pay in order to make up for lack of genuine management. The only good thing about this job is the people who you work with, everyone looks out for one another as its common knowledge that if you don't look out for each other then no one else in this company will. Staff is -

Pros

I still haven't recovered from the misery of this job

If I could give this place zero I would. Constant bullying from all sides of management made people quit and then the turn over just got ridiculous. They got so desperate they were taking on so many new people and there was no time to train anyone and old staff were taking on twice the job. Work-life balance is non-existent. After 12 there is a set rate and your lead to believe you're getting more than minimum but certain managers will abuse this and make you stay till you end up getting paid below minimum per hour. Forget about job progression. Nepotism comes to mind

Pros

Customer tell you on a daily basis you have ruined their day

Cons

Management will make sure you're having a bad one too

Fun to work. Thought me a lot of new advancements

A typical day to day work would either consist of you working on the tills or you working on floor. They were the two different compartments of the job. Working on floor was mainly dealing with customer complaints, cleaning screens for customers cleaning bathrooms screen checking, and just overall making a clean environment in the facility. Working on tills was a much bigger responsibility. This would involve you working with cash, so mistakes in this area could be more harmful to the employee. Also dealing with customer complaints. Doing deliveries for the company out the back. Stockings shelves counting stock etc. Vue really did help me a lot when it came to experience and work in general. I used to be terrified to work on tills I didn't think I could stand there and talk to people but now I have no problem at all with it, in fact I love dealing with customers and just chatting away to them in general. My confidence is much greater than it used to be. I learned how to be more punctual how to time keep and how to handle stress when it came to massive ques of people. Management in Vue wasn't all the best but I didn't have a big problem with them. Some managers I got on with others not as great but there wasn't one manager I would say that I did not like. The environment at Vue was fantastic. Everyone was so lovely and welcoming, I hadn't had one augment with anyone while working there. I mainly stayed and work there just because the people there were so friendly and fun to work with. The hardest part of the job was the night shifts. Working late was unpleasant -

Fun, interesting, and

A typical day would be cleaning the screen after each movie, directing customers to the screen their movie is in. Cleaning the toilets every hour. Serving customers tickets and food. Working here was like being apart of one big family. You make friends for life. Everyone helps everyone. It may not seem like an enjoyable job at first but the staff make it so much more enjoyable.

Pros

Free tickets

Cons

late hours and even later hours on the weekend

Good for your first job

This place is good for your first job when 18 or so as majority of the staff are 18-20. Bullying in the workplace is high. I experienced it a lot over 4 years.Overall management are nice enough, I am glad I got out while I could. On weekends a standard close is 3am. You cannot leave until mangement deems the place clean enough. I have often been there until 4-5am after beginning my shift at 6pm the day before.

Pros

Free tickets

Cons

Long hours

a very enjoyable experience

day to day working in the cinema was a good experience working in a fast paced environment i learned how to work as part of a team and how to speak pleasantly to customers. the management were easy to talk to and easy to get along with but all the staff were friendly and we all bonded well as a team. the hardest part of the job was when it was very busy serving all the customers and getting them seated in time for their movie. the most enjoyable part of the job was being up to date with new movies also meeting and talking to new people on a daily basis.

Pros

2 free tickets to any movie every week staff show a week before a new movie came out

Cons

long hours
