Bad management and serious bullying
Women's Wear Sales Assistant (Former Employee) –  Newbridge, County Kildare23 February 2019
This company's competitive salary is not worth the horrible company culture which exists in Zara's Newbridge store.
The Newbridge store manager lied to me at the beginning of my contract, spoke in a passive/aggressive tone and represented an autocratic leadership style.
The employees in the store disrespected other new employees and created a very toxic environment to work in
Pros
None
Cons
The store manager hires 10 new employees every year. She gives only 1 permanent contract

Sales assistant (Former Employee) –  Dublin13 February 2019
Zara can be a great place to work. The managers are always prepared to help and present in the work place.
In a typical day I was responsible for organizing the shop floor, taking care of the fitting room and helping costumers with whatever they need. The sales assistants need to be agile and organized to maintain the shop floor always looking its best.

Unorganised and messy place
Sales Assistant (Current Employee) –  Dublin24 January 2019
To be honest with you guys I've got this job only to gain some experience, because overall the environment is an Army one, after working here all other similar jobs will be a joke.
-usually people get 22h per week contract for the shop assistant job, which are divided depending of how fast are you, sometimes they can just call you for 2 hours, but after 1 months of following you they should determine if you are fast enough, if not they will just won't call you anymore.
-people are being threatened indirectly to stay more hours after closing and if not they will be fired, adițional hours after 8.00pm are paid basically.
-management is taking advantage of hardworking staff, especially imigrants, they always get work until close but, locals usually get morning and weekends hours.
-If you stay extra and you missed your bus they don't care, and will never return your taxi spendings
- they might insist that you get your brake after 1 hour of working which is inappropriate in case you work until 23.00
Pros
Free water and fruits ones a month
Cons
No cons, just mess

Very very fast-pace environment.
The is a very large body of staff which makes it easy to make friends and work as part of a team.
The closes are very long (+2 hours on a busy day).
The store can get very hectic and messy, especially during sale times.

Employee discount, Extra pay on Sundays
Cons
Long closing hours

Stressfull, disorganised,unhappy atmosphere
Shop Assistant/Cashier (Former Employee) –  Dundrum, County Dublin13 August 2018
The environment is very stressful as there is little staff on the floor with a lot of work to be done. There's a really high turnover which leaves only people with very little experience working in the store.

Customers do not have any respect for the store or the people who work there.

Management does not find time to listen to employees and is not consistent creating a really chaotic environment.
Schedule does not allow you to have a good work-life balance.

Good commission on your monthly salary, lovely colleagues and free fruit in the cantine.
Pros
Commission on monthly salary - Colleagues
Cons
Management - Environment

Fast-paced job with important responsibilities.
Shop floor sales assistant in menswear department (Former Employee) –  Dublin, Ireland8 June 2018
Zara is a very fast-paced environment that requires a quick response time of its employees. The level of work that was expected of me allowed me to feel like the company really valued my input and the efforts I made to ensure the store reached daily and weekly targets. Management often required my assistance in a lot of aspects which gave me certain powers and responsibilities in the store and provided a sense of reward and achievement.

Sales Assistant (Former Employee) –  Dublin19 March 2018
Working there was easy. Apart from a manager, who was not supposed to have that role, it was a good experience. The role was about folding clothes and helping people out with their choices.
