Non-work opportunities
Indeed is a job site. All adverts must be for real, paid jobs. Adverts that offer unpaid work, fake openings, unpaid internships or other non-job content are not allowed. We may remove or hide adverts that could confuse jobseekers or break these rules.
This policy is global, but some markets have different rules for certain types of vacancies.
Advert requirements
Post real and accurate jobs
- Don't post jobs that aren't legitimate. such as:
- Adverts for services or products
- Test posts
- Business opportunities
- Adverts with nonsense words
Avoid candidate pooling
- Don't post fake adverts to collect CVs for a database (also called a 'bait-and-switch') as they can be misleading to jobseekers
- Examples include jobs labelled 'talent bank' or 'general application'.
Don't advertise passive income opportunities
- 'Passive income' adverts are for activities that are not actual jobs. This could mean getting paid for little to no work or growing your own streaming channel.
- Examples are:
- One-off surveys or participation in medical trials
- Growing your own social media account where your pay depends entirely on views or viewer gifts.
Make sure vacancies are paid
- All vacancies must pay money for work completed.
- This includes any training or trial periods.
- We don't allow vacancies that offer only 'experience' or 'exposure'.
Unpaid internships
All internships on Indeed must be:
- Paid
- Listed as 'internship' in the title
Misleading job titles or descriptions
Don't use:
- Vague or misleading job titles
- Descriptions that don't match an actual, available vacancy
Unpaid trial periods
We don't allow unpaid trial shifts
Volunteer roles
- We only allow true volunteer roles at non-profit organisations.
- The job title must say 'volunteer'.
- We don't allow volunteer roles at for-profit companies.
