Indeed provides more quality candidates for Banner Health’s remote hospital locations than any other recruitment advertising source.
With 23 hospitals in seven states, Banner Health is rapidly emerging as one of the country’s leading health systems. The non-profit organization is integral to the Western communities it serves, from urban centers like Phoenix, AZ to remote towns like Fairbanks, AK and Fallon, NV. Shortages in nursing and other health care occupations, combined with the isolation of some Western communities, have posed challenges for Banner Health’s recruiting team. “Our positions are often hard to fill, so we’re continually looking for effective recruitment strategies,” said Joshua Zibelman, Internet Recruitment Consultant at Banner Health. “I first noticed Indeed when it appeared in our Google Analytics as a referring source. Now, Indeed is a top source of qualified hires for us.”

“We were already getting 1,000 visits a month via Indeed, so we decided to build on that success by sponsoring our jobs on Indeed,” Zibelman said. “We now see more than 20,000 visits a month, and the quality of applicants is higher with Indeed than with many other sources.”
Many of the jobs Banner Health sponsors on Indeed are considered hard to fill and premium placement within the organization. By sponsoring its jobs on Indeed, Banner Health has filled these types of jobs, including registered nurses, respiratory therapists and positions related to medical imaging, in locations such as Fairbanks, AK, Fallon, NV, and Page, AZ.
“Indeed continues to exceed our expectations in terms of quantity and types of hires we’re able to make,” Zibelman said. “Indeed dovetails easily and effectively with iCIMS, our applicant tracking system, which has a powerful, customizable search and reporting feature. We can accurately track the candidates from Indeed and see the results of our investment right away.”
Indeed provided Banner Health with more qualified candidates at a lower cost per applicant and lower cost per hire than search engine optimization (SEO) and job boards. “It’s difficult to find qualified applicants in health care, especially in the smaller towns,” Zibelman said. “With Indeed, we’re getting hires in our remote locations as well as in the big cities.”
