Fixed-Term Full-Time and Part-Time Positions
Contract: September 2026 to 21 May 2027

UCD Students’ Union Commercial Services is recruiting enthusiastic and customer-focused Deli/Retail Assistants to join our two busy convenience stores on the UCD Belfield campus.

This is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy a fast-paced retail and food service environment and take pride in delivering excellent customer service.

Predominantly Monday to Thursday, these roles offer regular weekday work within a friendly and supportive team.

Hours of Work

Part-Time Positions - 20 hours per week working 4 days per week, Monday to Thursday.

Weekly rosters are issued one week in advance. Shifts are scheduled within the store opening hours.

Store Opening Hours

  • Monday to Friday: 7.00am – 6.00pm for 8 months of the year
  • Extended opening until 7.00pm during November, December, April and May.
  • Store Closure/ Shut down over Christmas and New Year

Our stores are closed most weekends. Staff may be required to work on an occasional weekend (maximum of five weekends in November/December and April/ May).

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver friendly and excellent customer service.
  • Operate tills and process cash and card payments accurately.
  • Prepare, heat, serve and present deli and food items to a high standard.
  • Replenish shelves, fridges and deli displays.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety.
  • Receive, check and store deliveries and stock.
  • Work as part of a busy, supportive team.
  • Follow all company policies and HACCP/food safety procedures.
  • Assist with opening, closing and general day-to-day store duties.
  • Help create a welcoming and efficient environment for students, staff and visitors.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of one year’s experience working in a busy deli, café or similar retail/food service environment.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Friendly, positive and approachable manner.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
  • Ability to work confidently in a busy, fast-paced environment.
  • Good attention to detail and a strong commitment to hygiene and food safety.
  • Previous till operation and cash-handling experience.
  • Flexible approach to duties and working hours.

Pay: €14.15-€17.79 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 20.0 per week
