Branch Manager

The Company

The Cooney Furlong Grain Co is an innovative and progressive company operating within the agricultural industry. Our Agribusiness division operates through four strategically located outlets across the Southeast.

Our core business includes the assembly, drying, and marketing of grain, integrated with a strong retail network of Agri-stores supporting farmers throughout the region. We supply high-quality animal feeds, animal health products, fertilisers, seeds, crop protection chemicals, hardware, and farm plastics.

In addition, we provide professional crop agronomy and animal nutrition advisory services to our customers.

We are now inviting applications for the position of Branch Manager to lead one of our retails Agri branches.

Role Overview

The Branch Manager will be responsible for the overall performance, leadership, and operational management of the branch. This role requires strong commercial awareness, team leadership, and a hands-on approach to delivering exceptional customer service while achieving business growth targets.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Manage the daily operations of the branch to ensure efficient and smooth running of shop floor and yard activities.
  • Oversee stock control, including ordering, stock rotation, and ensuring product availability in line with seasonal demand.
  • Maintain high operational standards across merchandising, yard organisation, and site presentation.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, supervise, and support branch staff to maintain appropriate staffing levels.
  • Drive colleague performance, development, and accountability.
  • Foster a positive, customer-focused, and safety-conscious team culture.

Sales & Customer Service

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and handle customer queries or complaints effectively.
  • Provide knowledgeable advice on agricultural products.
  • Promote and upsell products to meet customer needs and enhance branch sales performance.
  • Drive sales growth and achieve agreed business targets.

Financial & Credit Control

  • Oversee and manage credit control procedures to ensure timely payments.
  • Support achievement of branch profitability and margin targets.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment for staff and customers.

Flexibility

  • Adapt to seasonal business demands and take on new challenges as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar management or supervisory role.
  • Proven sales experience with strong commercial awareness.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong computer literacy.
  • Practical, energetic, and capable of working on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated customer focus and ability to make sound business decisions.
  • Third-level qualification in Agriculture (advantageous).
  • Keen interest and understanding of the agricultural sector.
  • Adaptable and solution oriented.
