Air Conditioning Apprentice

Location: Dublin

Alpha Facilities Maintenance is growing and we’re hiring a Commercial Air Conditioning Apprentice to join our service and projects team. This is a hands-on role working alongside experienced technicians across commercial sites (offices, retail, hospitality, healthcare, industrial). You’ll learn the trade through structured on-the-job training and apprenticeship training phases.

What you’ll be doing

  • Assisting qualified engineers/technicians with commercial HVAC maintenance (PPM) and reactive callouts
  • Supporting installations and small works (mounting units, containment, pipework support, insulation, general fit-out tasks)
  • Helping with basic checks and recording readings (temperatures, airflow observations, visual inspections, etc.) under supervision
  • Learning safe working practices in plant rooms, rooftops, ceiling voids, and live commercial environments
  • Maintaining tools, keeping the van/site organised, and ensuring high standards of housekeeping
  • Communicating professionally with clients on-site and representing the company well

Systems you’ll get exposure to

  • VRF/VRV and split systems
  • Rooftop packaged units
  • AHUs / FCUs and ventilation-related equipment
  • Controls and basic BMS interaction (depending on site)

What we’re looking for (essential)

  • A strong interest in building a long-term career in commercial air conditioning / HVAC/R
  • Practical/mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined areas (with proper safety controls)
  • Eligible to work in Ireland
  • Full clean driving licence (preferred) or working toward it

Tickets/certifications

  • Safe Pass (required for many sites) — must already have, or be willing to obtain quickly
  • Manual Handling — desirable (we can support training)
  • Any F-Gas-related awareness/certification is a plus (depending on apprenticeship stage and role scope)
