Afterschool Supervisor – Full-Time (39 hours/week)

Position Overview

We are seeking a responsible, experienced, and enthusiastic Afterschool Supervisor to lead our afterschool team and ensure that all children receive supportive, safe, and stimulating care every day. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a passion for child development, and a clear understanding of Irish childcare standards.

Eligibility to work in Ireland is essential. EU applicants and Stamp 4 are preferred, but all candidates legally entitled to work in Ireland will be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership & Team Management
• Supervise after-school staff and oversee daily operations.
• Provide direction, guidance, and daily task delegation.
• Maintain positive team communication and environment.
• Ensure correct child–staff ratios at all times.
• Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, nurturing environment.
• Ensure compliance with Children First and all safeguarding policies.
• Support children’s emotional and behavioural needs using positive, child-led approaches.
• Build professional relationships with parents and guardians.
• Plan and deliver activities aligned with Aistear, Síolta, and Tusla standards.
• Support creative, play-based learning and child-led initiatives.
• Encourage independence, leadership, and social development.
• Ensure full compliance with Tusla Early Years Regulations.
• Conduct daily risk assessments and safety checks.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety.
• Oversee FAR (First Aid Response), First Aid, Fire Safety, and emergency procedures.
• Manage attendance records, incident reports, and relevant documentation.
• Communicate regularly with management.
• Support inspections and ensure all documentation is up to date.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Experience working with children (mandatory).
Full driving licence

Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role with children.

Strong understanding of Tusla regulations, Aistear, and Síolta.

Legally eligible to work in Ireland

Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.

QQI Level 5 in Early Childhood Care & Education or School Age Care (mandatory).

Training or certification in:

FAR – First Aid Response

Fire Safety

Children First

Food Safety / Food Hygiene Awareness
