Imagine your next project driving cutting-edge automation solutions that directly restore and preserve sight for millions of people globally. Provide high-quality development and technical support for advanced automated machines across various disciplines, such as PLC systems, vision systems, robotics, and servo motion, within our world-class manufacturing facility in Limerick, Ireland.
roles and responsibilities
You will develop functional and detailed design specifications based on user requirements and create robust PLC and SCADA solutions.
This will involve:
-
Responsible for the development, installation, validation, and support of automation control systems.
-
Design and validate solutions for both new and legacy equipment to enhance safety, quality, or throughput.
-
Act as a subject matter expert for complex problem resolution and technical consultation.
-
Develop validation documents and ensure conformance to site quality and safety standards.
-
Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives across the site to reduce costs and improve technical performance.
-
Mentoring less experienced staff and managing resources for assigned projects.
-
Validate and commission control software within a 24/7 regulated production environment.
-
Perform fault-finding on complex equipment and provide technical support to operations.
-
Support cross-functional teams to improve quality, performance, and product delivery.

Maintain change management and quality control documentation according to medical device standards.
how to succeed
To thrive in this role, you will bring strong technical expertise in automation engineering along with the ability to solve complex problems under tight schedules.
You will also bring:
-
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
-
2+ years of experience.
-
Strong understanding of automation control systems and medical device validation standards.
-
Proficiency in PLC languages (SFC, ladder, structured text, function block) to IEC61131 standards.
-
Knowledge of safety PLCs (AB, Pilz), robot controllers (6 axis and SCARA), and vision systems.
-
Strong communication, analytical problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to work under tight schedules.
-
Familiarity with laser control, RFID/BCR interfaces, and data systems like MES.
-
Exposure to data analytics, AI, and Machine Learning concepts.
