BAR TEAM MEMBER / BARTENDER

The Schoolhouse Hotel & Gastrobar is a boutique four-star hotel in leafy Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. We have 31 bedrooms, a beautiful listed building, a busy gastrobar and a lovely mix of hotel guests, local regulars and customers from the surrounding residential area.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for an experienced Bartender who can bring energy, confidence and personality to the Gastrobar. You’ll make great drinks, keep service moving, chat naturally with guests and help create the warm Schoolhouse atmosphere people come back for.

Our bar is busy and lively, but we are not a late-night bar. The trade is a great mix of hotel residents, good local customers and regulars from the neighbourhood — and we close at Christmas, so the team gets proper time off when it matters.

Previous bar experience is essential. We need someone who can jump into service, keep standards high and enjoy the buzz of a busy room.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Guest service:

· Welcome guests, take orders and serve drinks with warmth, confidence and personality.

· Know the drinks list and recommend beers, wines, cocktails and non-alcoholic options that suit the guest.

· Work with the floor and kitchen teams to keep food and drink service smooth.

· Handle guest questions professionally and involve the manager on duty when needed.

Bar standards

· Set up, stock and close the bar properly.

· Keep the bar, glassware and equipment clean, polished and organised.

· Prepare garnishes, ice, mixers and mise en place before service.

· Follow recipes, measures and presentation standards so every drink is consistent.

Stock and service support

· Receive and rotate stock, report low stock and help with stock counts.

· Change kegs and assist with line cleaning when trained.

· Operate the till and card machines accurately and follow cash-handling procedures.

· Handle tips and gratuities in line with our policy.

Responsible service

· Serve alcohol responsibly and in line with licensing law.

· Ask for valid photo ID where needed and never serve anyone under 18.

· Refuse service calmly and professionally if a guest is intoxicated.

· Keep service safe, friendly and well managed from first order to last call.

Safety and hygiene

· Follow HACCP, allergen, hygiene and safety procedures.

· Use safe manual handling, chemical handling and glass-handling practice.

· Report accidents, faulty equipment or safety concerns straight away.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Essential

· Previous bartender experience in a hotel, bar, restaurant or gastropub.

· Aged 18 or over.

· Good knowledge of beers, wines, spirits and classic cocktails.

· Warm, confident guest service and good spoken English.

· Comfortable working at pace and keeping the bar clean during service.

· Confident with tills, card payments and cash handling.

· Available for evenings and weekends as rostered.

· Existing right to work in Ireland.

Desirable

· Responsible Serving of Alcohol training.

· HACCP or food safety training.

· Barista or coffee experience.

· Cellar experience, including keg changes and line cleaning.

· Experience using an EPOS till system.

Pay: €14.15-€18.07 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 39.0 per week
