The Opportunity:

Located in the heart of Castlebar, the TF Royal Hotel & Theatre is the West of Ireland’s leading destination for dining and entertainment, hosting over 180 national and international events annually, including the capacity to cater for business meetings and private functions. This year, the TF Royal transformed its food offering with the launch of the Green Room Bar & Restaurant and the Yew Tree Café. With these recent business upgrades and many more on the horizon, the TF Royal Castlebar has an exciting opening for a creative Bars Manager within the growing food and beverage department.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the day to day running of all bars within the property including green room bar and theatre bar.
  • To ensure that the bar complies with the licensing laws, weight’s and measures trade descriptions act.
  • To ensure that the overall cleanliness and hygiene standards in all beverage outlets are being implemented and monitored in line with statutory requirements.
  • To ensure that the department is complying with all Health & Safety, Food Hygiene and all other statutory and legal requirements.
  • Ensure your departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) documents are updated.
  • To ensure maximum security in all areas under your control and that staff are fully aware of the importance of key security.
  • To report accidents of guests or staff and ensure that an Accident Report Form is completed. Ensuring Risk Assessments are carried out and cleaning schedules are recorded and kept on file for 12 months.
  • To contribute and devise the revenue targets and budgets for the department
  • To positively promote sales awareness within the department, & at all times maximizing sales opportunities to achieve/exceed budget sales targets.
  • To be actively involved and contribute/deliver sales in the bar. To include in house opportunities/average spend targeting.
  • To identify and implement new and innovative concepts/service standards that will maintain a competitive and leading edge over our Competitive set
  • Engage the team with upselling and revenue goals in line with departmental goals.
  • Costing out of rosters in line with forecast while not compromising service levels.
  • Control of weekly beverage ordering to keep stock on hand at agreed values.
  • Rigorous follow up on beverage margin report to reconcile variances.
  • To work closely to control team costs to ensure they meet budget expectations. Any variances must be fully investigated, and action outlined to take necessary steps to rectify immediately.
  • To ensure that all new employees fully understand the hotel cash handling procedures and that there is a signed copy of cash handling procedures on all employee files.
  • Demonstrate assertiveness to instruct, firmly represent organizational standards and goals, or discipline as necessary
  • In conjunction with the Food & Beverage Management Team to ensure departmental skills training is carried out in a systemic and professional way and recorded and that all employees are fully aware and implementing departmental Standard of procedures.
  • Attend or read the handover briefing at the beginning of your shift to ensure that you are aware of any special requirements for the day.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment and selection of new team members ensuring both a skills and hotel culture fit.
  • Monitor employee satisfaction and engagement to limit employee turnover
  • To create an environment which promotes employee morale and encourages the team to have pride in their area of work with a high level of commitment.
  • To maintain regular and effective communication within the team and all levels by holding daily briefing sessions with the immediate team and attending meetings as required.
  • To ensure that all Bar employees are complying with the Company uniform standards and are presented in a professional well-groomed manner.
  • To ensure that correct lighting levels and music levels are being adhered to.
  • Promote recycling, waste management and efficient use of utilities in all areas.

About the position:

  • The main purpose of this role will be the delivery of a high-quality service in all bars. The manager will hold responsibility for the highest levels of guest satisfaction while ensuring operational and financial target delivery.
  • This position will report directly to senior hotel management
