The Role:
The Specialist in Biochemistry will be accountable for providing and managing training to current and new technical staff in protein electrophoresis service.

- As a Biochemistry Specialist, the employee is expected to recognize the importance of and create a culture of process improvement with a focus on streamlining our processes adding value to our business and meeting client needs.
- Responsible for protein electrophoresis training and ongoing staff competency.
- Ensures work in accordance with agreed tum around time by daily review of department pending lists.
- Perform technical assignments and testing and issue reports in accordance with written procedures.
- Adheres to written internal and external quality control procedures to ensure the quality of the results.
- Responsible for the quality and compliance with CAP and ISO-15189 standards, relevant regulations and other relevant standards as determined by the company.
- Ensuring the laboratory adheres to standard operating procedures and protocol requirements during each day.
- Performs continuing education of laboratory staff in the protein electrophoresis section of the laboratory as required.
- Establishes good relationships internally and externally. Interacts with other departments, such as Project Management, LIS, Scientific Affairs, Global Validations, QA, Client Services and Global Labs. Also Interacts with clients and internal/external auditors.
- Assists in the evaluation of and validation of new methodologies and instrumentation working closely with Global Validations Department.
- Any other relevant tasks as assigned by management.
You will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Biomedical Science or equivalent with 5+ years working in a Biochemistry Laboratory.
- MSc specialising in Biochemistry is highly desirable.
- Extensive experience working in protein electrophoresis section in a Biochemistry laboratory.
- Ability to train and develop staff in the protein electrophoresis section
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience with CAP and/ or ISO-15189 accreditation.
