Description Overview
At Perrigo, we believe beter health should be within reach for everyone. As R&D Category Scientist – Women’s Health, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of science-led innovation and lifecycle management across the Women’s Health portfolio.
This role is responsible for executing category priorities, contributing to innovation pipeline development, and ensuring timely delivery of compliant, consumer-centric products across OTC drugs, cosmetics, supplements, and medical device portfolios.
Operating within a cross-functional environment, you will partner closely with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Medical, Quality, Supply, and Commercial teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions aligned to category strategy.
Scope of the Role
- Support the development and execution of the Women’s Health innovation pipeline for store brand and branded products in partnership with Category and Commercial teams
- Contribute to front-end innovation activities, including concept development, feasibility, and validation
- Ensure projects progress efficiently through development to launch readiness
- Apply strong scientific and technical expertise to support formulation development, claims support, and product validation
- Contribute to generation and interpretation of data to support product performance, safety, and compliance
- Support the development of clear scientific rationale for product decisions
- Work collaboratively with Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, Quality, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to deliver projects
- Support alignment of technical, regulatory, and commercial requirements to ensure successful product delivery
- Contribute to resolving technical and execution challenges during development and scale-up
- Drive development forward through clear communication across internal cross-functional teams and external partners (e.g. CMOs, vendors)
- Support lifecycle management of existing Women’s Health products, including reformulations, cost improvements, and compliance updates
- Contribute to maintaining product quality, performance, and regulatory alignment across markets
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and product performance
- Contribute to development of products aligned to consumer needs and category priorities
- Support generation of evidence and insights to ensure products meet performance, safety, and usability expectations
- Apply category knowledge to support competitive and differentiated solutions
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Demonstrate ownership and accountability for assigned projects and deliverables
- Contribute to a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation
Experience Required
- Education: Degree in a relevant scientific discipline such as Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: B.S. & 6+ years / M.S. & 4+ years / Ph.D. & 2+ years R&D experience in consumer health, pharmaceuticals, or FMCG related industry, with demonstrated experience supporting product development and delivery
- Innovation Leadership: Experience contributing to innovation projects across the development lifecycle—from concept through to launch—supporting delivery across markets and regulatory environments.
- Scientific & Regulatory Acumen: Solid working knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, EMA), claims support, and product development processes, with the ability to apply this in project execution.
- Cross-Functional Excellence: Proven ability to work effectively across commercial, regulatory, supply chain, and medical teams to support coordinated project delivery.
- Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Demonstrates ability to apply data and scientific reasoning to support project decisions, contributing to category plans and lifecycle activities.
- Global Mindset: Comfortable working within a matrixed environment, supporting projects across markets with an understanding of diverse consumer and regulatory needs.
