About the Role

We’re looking for a motivated and detail-focused Accounts Assistant to join our finance team within a busy Construction and Engineering Group based in Cork City. This role involves working across a group of companies, helping to keep everything running smoothly from invoicing customers to preparing monthly management accounts.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Preparing monthly management accounts for several companies in the group.
  • Raising and issuing customer invoices and following up when needed.
  • Processing purchase invoices, subcontractor invoices, and supplier payments.
  • Keeping track of project costs, supplier accounts, and retentions.
  • Handling RCT, VAT and Paye returns in line with Revenue requirements.
  • Reconciling bank accounts, credit cards, and petty cash.
  • Assisting with payroll and timesheet processing.
  • Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, and project managers to resolve queries.
  • Working closely with our external accountant to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required

What We’re Looking For

  • 1–2 years’ experience in an accounts or finance role ideally in construction or engineering.
  • Good knowledge of RCT, VAT, payroll and general accounting principles.
  • Comfortable using accounting software (Sage, Xero, or similar) and strong Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Organised, reliable, and able to manage your own workload.
  • A team player with good communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Accounting Technician qualification (ATI) or studying towards one.
  • Experience working across multiple companies or business entities.
  • Knowledge of project accounting and retentions in the construction sector.
