Full job description

JJ Burke Car Sales Group is currently seeking a motivated and commercially focused Financial Accountant to join our growing team.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to further develop their experience within a fast-paced and dynamic business environment. Reporting directly to the Group CEO and CFO, the successful candidate will play a key role in financial reporting, cashflow management, budgeting, payroll oversight, and supporting the overall finance function across the dealership group.

Motor industry experience is desirable but not essential.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Maintain accurate financial ledgers and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Analyse departmental profitability across vehicle sales, service, parts, and aftersales
  • Assist with preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cashflow projections
  • Monitor key financial KPIs and report on variances

Cashflow & Treasury

  • Monitor daily cashflow and banking activities
  • Assist in managing funding lines and treasury requirements
  • Support debtor control and supplier payment management
  • Prepare cashflow reports for senior management

Payroll & HR Support

  • Oversee payroll processing and commission calculations
  • Ensure compliance with PAYE, PRSI, pension, and statutory obligations
  • Support payroll administration and reporting

Motor Industry Accounting

  • Assist with vehicle stock reconciliations and cost tracking
  • Support VAT margin scheme calculations for used vehicles
  • Assist with BIK reporting and Revenue compliance
  • Work closely with departmental managers to improve financial performance

Audit & Compliance

  • Prepare VAT returns and Revenue submissions
  • Support annual audit preparation and liaise with external auditors
  • Ensure financial records are maintained accurately and remain audit-ready
  • Assist in improving internal financial controls and reporting processes

Systems & Reporting

  • Work with Dealer Management Systems (DMS) and accounting software
  • Assist in streamlining reporting procedures and improving efficiencies
  • Maintain high standards of data accuracy and financial reporting

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years post-qualification or relevant industry experience
  • Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and tax compliance
  • Experience in management reporting and cashflow management
  • Excellent Excel and systems skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational ability
  • Commercial awareness with a proactive approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a management team
  • Motor industry experience advantageous but not essential
