Role Overview:

The Accountant will play a key role in setting up and maintaining robust financial processes, ensuring statutory compliance in Ireland and across our European operations, managing day-to-day finance functions, and providing insightful financial reporting to aid strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Operations:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions including AR/AP, bank reconciliations, payroll coordination, and general ledger entries.
  • Set up accounting systems and processes suitable for a scaling construction business.
  • Monitor project budgets and costs, liaising with project managers to ensure accurate reporting.

Compliance & Tax:

  • Ensure compliance with Irish Revenue regulations, VAT, RCT, and payroll tax filings.
  • Manage compliance for EU Permanent Establishments (PEs), including local VAT registrations and filings in other jurisdictions.
  • Liaise with external advisors/auditors regarding statutory filings in Ireland and EU countries.

Reporting & Forecasting:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and project profitability reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements.
  • Provide financial insights and KPIs to senior management to inform business decisions.

Systems & Controls:

  • Implement and maintain accounting and project management software
  • Develop internal controls and policies to support financial and operational risk management.

Qualifications & Skills:

Essential:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) with 3+ years of post-qualification experience.
  • Prior experience in construction or project-based accounting.
  • Knowledge of Irish tax laws, VAT, and RCT regulations.
  • Experience with accounting for international operations or PEs in Europe.
  • Strong Excel and accounting system skills.
  • Sage 50 Experience essential
