We have expanded our cafe operation in TESCO Extra Wexford, and we’re looking for a talented and motivated Assistant Café Manager to help lead our team.

About the Role

As Assistant Café Manager, you’ll support the Management team in the day-to-day operations of café. You’ll lead by example, ensuring smooth service, exceptional product quality, and a welcoming atmosphere for both customers and staff.

You’ll play a key role in staff development, maintaining operational standards, and driving the overall success and profitability of the café.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily café operations to ensure smooth and efficient service
  • Manage, train, and motivate team members to deliver excellent customer service
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene, and presentation
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally
  • Manage inventory, stock rotation, and supplier relationships
  • Implement and enforce café policies and procedures
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance, providing feedback and coaching
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Coordinate marketing and promotional activities to boost sales
  • Maintain accurate financial and operational records
  • Assist with staff scheduling and payroll management
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment
  • Address operational issues promptly and effectively
  • Support the Area Manager and Directors in achieving business goals

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Assistant Café Manager, Senior Supervisor, or similar role in hospitality.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Proficiency with café or POS management software
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and variable shifts
  • Positive attitude, attention to detail, and strong work ethic
  • Knowledge of coffee and beverage preparation (advantageous)
  • Ability to train, coach, and motivate staff
  • Commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience
  • Barista and Deli operations experience a clear advantage.

Customer Service Focus

  • Provide a high level of customer service at all times
  • Communicate clearly and positively with customers and staff
  • Log and handle comments or complaints courteously and efficiently
  • Stay up to date on café events, promotions, and product offerings

Health & Safety Standards
