Post Summary:
The Art Collections Registrar supports the Curator/Head of the Art Collections (‘Art Curator’ henceforth) with collections registration, documentation, record maintenance and access, plus the development of the existing Collections Management System (CMS henceforth). This will include a major project to upgrade the current CMS, manage data migration with the CMS company, and to input new and existing data from multiple sources (digital and hard copy). The Registrar will also participate in a hands-on manner in the planning, preparation, actioning and documentation of artwork moves and displays internally and externally; this will include working regularly with the art objects at the store and across all sites connected to TCD at the main campus and satellite locations, as well as any sites related to loans and new acquisitions. In addition, this person will contribute to planning, policies, and procedures related to these areas, in line with international best-practice, applied to collections management activities within a non-museum environment.
Post status: Fixed-Term Contract (2 Years)
The purpose of this role is to support the Curator and Head of the University Art Collections with collection registration, documentation, record maintenance, and access, as well as updating the existing Collections Management System, while the long-term organisational and operational requirements of the area are assessed. This role is not offered on an indefinite basis, as the functions and responsibilities associated with it may not continue in their current form. The long-term capacity requirements of the post will be contingent on a review of the area.
Hours of Post: 35 hours per week
Salary: This appointment will be made on the Administrative 3 Salary Scale (€47,374 - €59,254 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy. monthly/weekly payscales. (tcd.ie)
