Job Title: Health Care Assistant On Call

Reports To: Health Care Supervisor / Branch Manager

Location: Swords and Surrounding Areas

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

The Rapid Responder HCA plays a vital role in providing high-quality, person-centred care to individuals in their homes. This role involves responding promptly to urgent care needs, offering support to regular care assistants, and ensuring continuity of care.

Responsibilities Of Role:

Emergency Response:

· Respond promptly to urgent calls and provide immediate care and support to customers.

· Assess client needs quickly and efficiently to deliver appropriate care interventions.

· Communicate effectively with the care management team to report on the situation and actions taken.

· To adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, and any other specific

approaches as layout within the care plan so as not to cause any confusion for the customer in providing short-notice care.

Personal Care:

· Assist customers with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.

· Support customers with mobility, ensuring safe transfers and use of equipment where necessary.

· Prompt medication as prescribed, following company policies and procedures.

· Ensure each task performed with the Customer (personal care, meal preparation, etc) is completed with dignity and respect for the Customer.

Emotional and Social Support:

· Provide companionship and emotional support to customers, encouraging social interaction and participation in activities.

· Assist with meal preparation and household tasks to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment.

Coordination and Communication:

· Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, family members, and caregivers to ensure comprehensive care.

· Maintain clear and timely communication with the care management team regarding any concerns or updates on client care.

· Works together with the Branch manager and Care Coordinator teams.

Qualifications:

  • QQI Level 5 Health care Award or equivalent- Essential
  • Full clean driver’s license – Essential

  • Dementia Training – HSE LAND
  • GDPR Training – HSE LAND
  • AMRIC Basics of Infection Prevention and Control- HSE LAND

  • Putting on and taking off PPE in Community Healthcare- HSE LAND

Experience:

· Previous experience in a healthcare setting is essential

Hours of work:

· 4 or 3 days per week

· 12-hour shifts, 84 hours Fortnightly

· Every second weekend

· You must be available 8 am-9 pm.
