Full job description

First Fix Carpenter / Carpentry Crew — Attic Conversions (Dormers & Hip-to-Gable) Lucan, Dublin | [Subcontract / Full-time PAYE] | [Rate/Day rate to be agreed based on experience]

About The Attic Company

The Attic Company is Dublin's attic conversion specialist, completing 200+ conversions every year. We've built our name on doing this properly — not rushing it, not cutting corners, and not treating every job the same. As we keep growing, we need a first fix carpentry crew who can match that standard, job after job, without us having to check over their shoulder.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced first fix carpenter or carpentry crew to join our installation pipeline, working across Dublin on dormer builds and hip-to-gable conversions. This isn't one-off or occasional work — it's a steady, year-round flow of jobs for a crew that can prove they can handle high-end finishes consistently, not just on a good day.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Constructing dormer roofs from steels and timber frame through to a fully formed structure
  • Carrying out hip-to-gable roof alterations, including structural alignment and roof integration
  • Installing structural floor joists (RSJs/steels where required) to create usable attic floor space
  • Forming stud walls, window and door openings, and staircase openings to a high standard
  • Working to architect/engineer drawings and building regulations on every job
  • Coordinating with our second fix, plumbing, and electrical teams to keep jobs moving on schedule
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised site on every job

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in dormer construction and hip-to-gable conversions specifically — general first fix experience alone won't cover it
  • A track record of consistent, high-end finish quality — not just capable of it occasionally
  • Ability to read and work accurately from technical/architect drawings
  • Own tools and reliable transport
  • Valid Safe Pass card (and CSCS/CIRI registration if applicable)
  • [If subcontract: Tax clearance / RCT registered as a subcontractor]
  • Comfortable working as part of a fast-moving schedule — we run 200+ jobs a year, so reliability and time-keeping matter as much as skill
  • Photos/portfolio of previous dormer or hip-to-gable work (please include with your application)

What We Offer

  • Consistent, year-round work — no chasing the next job
  • Competitive rates for crews who can prove the quality
  • Clear scope and drawings provided for every job, no guesswork
  • The opportunity to grow with a company that's scaling fast and values crews who can scale with it

How to Apply

Send your experience, relevant certifications, and photos of previous dormer/hip-to-gable work to office@theatticcompany.ie. Local crews based in or around Dublin preferred.
