Assessment Nurse – Adult ADHD Service
Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Assessment Nurse to join our remote Adult ADHD service in Ireland. This role is ideal for a clinician with experience in mental health and neurodevelopmental assessments who is passionate about delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care.
The successful candidate will play a key role in assessing adults referred for ADHD, supporting treatment planning, contributing to ongoing clinical reviews, and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive ADHD assessments for adults, including assessment of co-occurring mental health and neurodiverse conditions.
- Develop and support personalised care and treatment plans based on clinical assessment findings.
- Manage and prioritise a clinical caseload while maintaining high standards of patient care and clinical documentation.
- Assess clinical risk and safeguarding concerns, implementing appropriate risk management plans where necessary.
- Communicate complex and sensitive clinical information clearly and professionally to patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Liaise with GPs, psychiatrists, mental health teams, and external agencies across a range of settings.
- Aware about local safeguarding legislation and able to report safeguarding issues to local authorities as per policy.
- Contribute to service development, clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, and audits.
- Deliver psychoeducation and ongoing support to adults with ADHD and their families/carers.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with professional, legal, and organisational standards.
- Work autonomously within professional practice guidelines and service protocols.
Essential Requirements
- Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) or equivalent nursing qualification with active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Experience working within adult mental health and/or neurodevelopmental services.
- CPD/ CME accredited evidence of ADHD training.
- Experience carrying out mental health and/or ADHD assessments.
- Strong knowledge of ADHD and co-existing mental health conditions in adults.
- Excellent communication, clinical assessment, and risk management skills.
- Ability to work independently within a remote multidisciplinary team environment.
Desirable Requirements
- Prescribing qualification or experience supporting ADHD medication pathways.
- Previous experience working within an Adult ADHD service.
- Postgraduate qualification or evidence of continued professional development in mental health or neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Experience in clinical leadership, supervision, audit, or service improvement.
- Knowledge of Irish safeguarding frameworks and mental health services.
- Experience delivering psychoeducation or therapeutic support sessions.
